Activated and optioned The Pirates activated Palacios (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Impact Palacios is done with his rehab assignment from a strained left hamstring but the Pirates have elected to keep him at Indianapolis rather than add him to the big-league roster. He's put up a .663 OPS in 20 games with Pittsburgh this season.

Starting rehab assignment Palacios (hamstring) is headed to Triple-A Indianapolis to begin a rehab assignment, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Impact Palacios has been shelved for the last week with a left hamstring strain. Because his absence has been brief, it would seem he has a shot to be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible on Aug. 10. Palacios had been seeing regular reps in right field against right-handers before getting injured, but he could return as a backup following the Pirates' acquisition of Bryan De La Cruz.

Impact Palacios made an early exit from Monday's game versus the Astros due to a hamstring injury, and it will now officially cause him to miss at least the first portion of August. Bryan De La Cruz was officially activated to fill the open roster spot, and he figures to take over as Pittsburgh's primary right fielder.

Joins big-league roster The Pirates recalled Palacios from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Impact Palacios got a late start to the season at Indianapolis due to injury, but he collected a .934 OPS since returning last month. It's possible Palacios will get some run in the outfield with the Pirates struggling to find production from the center and right field spots, but he will begin Thursday's game versus the Cardinals on the bench.

Impact It had been previously reported Tuesday that Palacios was bound for the majors, but the team will instead keep him in Indianapolis for now. The 28-year-old outfielder has missed two months of the season due to an injury, but he's posted a .934 OPS since returning from the IL on June 11.
