Homer in shutout win Tena went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run score in Wednesday's win over the Rangers.

Impact Tena kicked off the scoring with a solo shot to straightaway center in the third off of Kumar Rocker. The platoon lefty mostly only bats as the designated hitter, but got his second start of the season in left field against the right-handed pitcher. The 25-year-old is slashing .233/.304/.393 with seven homers and 20 RBI in 206 at-bats against righties this year, as this is where he will get most of his starts.

Losing out on playing time Tena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Impact Tena has been included in the lineup just once in the Nationals' last six games, missing two starts against right-handed pitching during that span. Rather than calling upon Tena to hold down the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter, the Nationals may be content to rotate players at that spot to open up more at-bast for the likes of Brady House and Andres Chaparro.

AUGUST 16 • ROTOWIRE

Taking seat Tena is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cubs.

Impact The left-handed-hitting Tena typically plays against most right-handers, but he'll take a seat Thursday versus righty Kevin Gausman, who has reverse splits. Andres Chaparro will occupy the designated hitter slot for the Nationals.

Withheld from lineup versus lefty Tena is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Taking hold of platoon role Tena will start at designated hitter and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Impact Tena will be included in the lineup for a fifth consecutive matchup versus a right-handed pitcher (Andrew Painter) and looks poised to hold down a strong-side platoon role at DH after James Wood (oblique) was placed on the injured list Tuesday. For the season, Tena has slashed .230/.291/.374 in 203 plate appearances versus righties.

AUGUST 5 • ROTOWIRE

On bench against righty again Tena is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Impact After starting in each of the Nationals' previous five consecutive matchups with right-handed starters, Tena has now been left on the bench against righties Shane Bieber and Trey Yesavage for the final two tilts with Toronto. Rather than leaning Tena as their regular designated hitter, the Nationals may prefer to rotate a number of different players at that lineup spot.

JULY 29 • ROTOWIRE

Not in Tuesday's lineup Tena is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Blue Jays.

Impact The left-handed-swinging Tena had drawn five straight starts against righties (with four of them coming from the designated hitter slot), but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Blue Jays send righty Shane Bieber to the hill. James Wood will fill the DH spot Tuesday, and Daylen Lile, Jacob Young and Dylan Crews will patrol the outfield.

It was the fifth long ball of the season for Tena, two of which have come over his last four games.
