Officially lands on IL The Orioles placed Westburg (elbow) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Impact Westburg isn't expected to be ready to make his season debut until at least early May while he recovers from a partial UCL tear in his right elbow. Per MLB.com, Westburg has been running, fielding grounders and taking one-handed swings as of last week, but he has a few more checkpoints to hit in the recovery process before he'll be ready to head out on a rehab assignment.

Impact Westburg is trying to remain optimistic and continues to follow medical advice as he works his way back from a partially torn UCL in his right elbow. Westburg opted against surgery and instead received a platelet-rich plasma injection, hoping that coupled with rest would allow him to return to the field sooner. Westburg has already been ruled out through the end of April. Coby Mayo, Blaze Alexander and Jeremiah Jackson will be the candidates to cover third base while Wetsburg is sidelined.

Westburg also entered Orioles camp with an oblique strain, but that injury should heal long before the elbow issue. While Westburg is shelved, the Orioles could turn to Coby Mayo and/or Blaze Alexander at third base. Alexander is also in the mix for reps at second base for the injured Jackson Holliday (hand).
