Exiting starting nine Vivas is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in San Diego.
Impact The left-handed-swinging Vivas typically starts against right-handers, but he will begin Wednesday's game on the bench while the Padres send veteran righty Walker Buehler to the hill. CJ Abrams is handling second base for the Nationals on Wednesday.

Blake Snell tossed six scoreless innings, Kyle Tucker homered for the first time since Aug. 8 and the Los Angeles Dodgers held off the Washington Nationals 5-3 in their series open...
SEPTEMBER 5 • Associated Press
Drawing fifth straight start Vivas will start at second base and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Marlins.
Impact Vivas will remain in the lineup for a fifth game in a row after going 4-for-11 with two doubles, four walks, one stolen base and one RBI over the prior four contests. Four of those starts have come at second base, but assuming CJ Abrams quickly moves past the back issue that resulted in him being scratched from the lineup Monday, Vivas could end up pushing Brady House for playing time at the hot corner during the final month of the season.

Dylan Crews hit an RBI single with two out in the 10th inning to give the Washington Nationals a 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins
AUGUST 29 • Associated Press
Tallies three hits in win Vivas went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored and a strikeout during a 13-3 win over Colorado on Monday.
Impact Vivas recorded his second three-hit game of the season and first since June 27 on Monday. The 25-year-old slashed a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to extend the Nationals' lead to eight. On the campaign, Vivas is slashing .239/.324/.320 with three homers and 24 RBI in 287 plate appearances.
AUGUST 25 • ROTOWIRE
On bench Saturday Vivas isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.
Impact Vivas will take a day off to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-12 at the plate across his last four games. Jose Tena will start at the keystone while Vivas sits, and Brady House will get the nod at third base.
AUGUST 22 • ROTOWIRE
Idle against southpaw Vivas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact The Nationals will keep the left-handed-hitting Vivas on the bench for the second day in a row while the Cubs send another lefty (David Peterson) to the hill. Brady House will spell Vivas at third base and will bat third.
AUGUST 12 • ROTOWIRE
Absent from lineup Vivas is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Reds.
Impact The lefty-swinging Vivas started at third base each of the last three times the Nationals faced a right-hander, but he'll begin this one on the bench as righty Chase Petty starts a bullpen game for Cincinnati. Brady House will be at the hot corner and bat third.
AUGUST 7 • ROTOWIRE
Removed from lineup Vivas was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.
Impact With left-hander Martin Perez now set to toe the slab for Atlanta instead of Reynaldo Lopez (knee), the Nationals will exchange the lefty-hitting Vivas for the right-handed bat of Brady House.

Blue Jays' Bieber struggles through 'worst' outing, walks 6 in two-thirds of an inning vs. Nats

Toronto pitcher Shane Bieber’s start against the Washington Nationals was anything but a walk in the park
JULY 29 • Associated Press
Another start at third base Vivas will start at third base and bat eighth in Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.
Impact Following the trade of Curtis Mead, the left-handed-hitting Vivas has started at third base both times the Nationals have faced a right-hander. Brady House drew a start against a lefty, but it seems Vivas is currently manager Blake Butera's preferred option at the hot corner versus righty hurlers. The 25-year-old Vivas is slashing .240/.321/.339 with three homers and a 21:32 BB:K across 76 contests for the Nats this season.

Derek Hill hits 2-out, 2-run pinch homer in 9th to lift the Phillies past the Nationals, 5-4

Derek Hill hit a two-out, two-run pinch home run in the ninth inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies past the Washington Nationals, 5-4 on Wednesday night
JUNE 25 • Associated Press
Goes yard in Tuesday's start Vivas went 2-for-3 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies.
Impact Getting the start at second base and batting fifth while Nasim Nunez shifted to shortstop to cover for CJ Abrams (side), Vivas appeared to have the game won when he took Orion Kerkering deep in the bottom of the eight inning to give the Nationals an 8-6 lead, only for the visitors to stage an improbable eight-run rally with two outs in the top of the ninth. The homer was only Vivas' second of the season in 161 plate appearances, but that still establishes a new career high for the light-hitting infielder, who sports a .259/.340/.353 slash line on the year.

Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams a late scratch vs. Phillies with left side tightness

Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams was a late scratch for Tuesday night’s game against Philadelphia due to left side tightness
JUNE 23 • Associated Press
Back in bench role Vivas is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Impact Vivas will retreat to the bench after he had started at second base or third base in five of the previous six games while going 4-for-15 with one walk, two RBI and one run during that span. The Nationals still appear to view Nasim Nunez and Curtis Mead as the preferred options at the keystone and hot corner, respectively, so Vivas will likely be in line for just a part-time role when Washington is at full strength.
