Optioned to Triple-A
The Mets optioned Lucchesi to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Lucchesi pitched Saturday for 2.1 innings against the Nationals before that game was suspended, and rules dictate that the Mets can demote the left-hander before the twin billing is resumed. Dennis Santana will have his contract selected from Syracuse in a corresponding move. Lucchesi could be back with the Mets at some point this summer either as a starter or multi-inning reliever.

Mets-Nats postponed due to rain
Lucchesi's start on Saturday against the Nationals has been postponed due to inclement weather, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact
The game will be made up with a split doubleheader Sunday. Lucchesi threw 2.1 innings before the game was delayed for over three hours before being cancelled, so he and Washington starter Trevor Williams will not be available for Sunday's twin billing.

Gives up three runs in four innings
Lucchesi did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over four innings in a 13-6 loss to the Rockies. He struck out four.
Impact
Lucchesi gave up a solo home run to Randal Grichuk in the first and two runs in the third. The left-hander tossed a scoreless fourth and was at only 70 pitches, but he was replaced to start the fifth inning, as he was operating on three-days rest. After tossing seven shutout innings in his first appearance of the season (April 21 versus San Francisco), Lucchesi has allowed three or more runs in three straight outings and surrendered a home run in each of those contests. Carlos Carrasco's (elbow) rehab start has been delayed by an illness, so it looks like Lucchesi will get at least one more turn in the rotation.

Lifted after four innings in start
Lucchesi didn't factor into the decision Wednesday in the Mets' 6-5 loss to the Tigers in the first game of a doubleheader after he gave up four runs on five hits over four innings...
Impact
Though Lucchesi served up three extra-base hits (including two home runs) on the day, he was relatively efficient in the start, as he needed only 46 pitches to record 12 outs. Under normal circumstances, the Mets would have left Lucchesi in for at least another inning or two, but manager Buck Showalter told Tim Healey of Newsday after the game that the southpaw was pulled early so he could be better preserved for a start Sunday against the Rockies on three days' rest. Because of the doubleheader, the Mets will close the week with six games in five days, and Showalter apparently views Lucchesi on short rest as the team's best option for Sunday rather than delving into the minor-league ranks for a spot starter. The Mets are likely to scale back to a five-man rotation next week and Carlos Carrasco (elbow) also appears to be on track to return from the injured list, so Lucchesi could end up getting optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse immediately following Sunday's outing.

Tigers-Mets postponed Tuesday
Lucchesi and the Mets will not face Detroit on Tuesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact
The game will be made up as a split doubleheader between the Tigers and Mets on Wednesday. Lucchesi will all but assuredly start one of those two contests after being scheduled to take the ball against Detroit on Tuesday.

Lined up for Tuesday
Lucchesi is likely to start for the Mets on Tuesday in Detroit, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Impact
Sherman notes that the team has weather-related concerns for Tuesday's game which will likely result in pushing Max Scherzer back a day and moving Lucchesi up to Tuesday. The left-hander has made one excellent start and one so-so start since joining the Mets' rotation and would make a pretty risky streaming option Tuesday even in a favorable matchup.

Comes down to earth
Lucchesi did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against the Nationals. He struck out three.
Impact
Lucchesi turned in a middling performance Thursday after pitching seven scoreless innings against the Giants and striking out nine in his first appearance since June of 2021. Though he only gave up one run directly via a solo homer by Alex Call, Lucchesi left two runners on base when he was yanked in the sixth, both of which ended up scoring. Considering the 30-year-old is coming off of Tommy John surgery and owns a career ERA of 4.17, fantasy managers should expect more outings like Thursday's rather than his previous showing in 2023.

Gets another start
The Mets list Lucchesi as their probable starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Nationals at Citi Field.
Impact
With Carlos Carrasco (elbow) hitting the 15-day injured list, Lucchesi was summoned from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday to join New York's rotation in what was his first MLB appearance since June 2021. The southpaw certainly earned another turn through the rotation, as he struck out nine over seven shutout innings Friday as the Mets cruised to an easy 7-0 win over the Giants. With a matchup on tap versus a weak Nationals offense that enters Sunday ranked 26th in the majors in wRC+ (83), Lucchesi shapes up as an intriguing streaming option during the upcoming week.

Pitches gem in MLB return
Lucchesi (1-0) earned the win Friday, allowing four hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings in a 7-0 win over San Francisco. He struck out nine.
Impact
After a two-year absence from the big leagues due to his Tommy John surgery in 2021, Lucchesi turned in the best performance by a Mets starting pitcher so far this year. The southpaw was called up from Triple-A Syracuse before the game, and he hit the ground running. It's currently unclear what the 29-year-old's role will be once teammates Carlos Carrasco and Max Scherzer come back from injury and suspension, respectively.

Officially recalled to make start
Lucchesi was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse by the Mets on Friday, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.
Impact
Lucchesi officially gets the call to start against the Giants on Friday. The left-hander will be making his first MLB appearance since June 2021 as he's missed almost two years -- with the exception of late minor-league duty -- while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He pitched well with 15 strikeouts over 15.2 innings with Syracuse along with a 2.30 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over three starts in the minors, and he has had some success at the highest level while a member of the Padres.

Will start Friday
Lucchesi will be called up to start Friday's game against San Francisco, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact
Friday will mark Lucchesi's first major-league appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2021. He's made three solid starts in Triple-A this season, recording a 2.30 ERA and 1.18 WHIP alongside 15 strikeouts across 15.2 innings.

Candidate for promotion
Lucchesi could be called up to take the place of Carlos Carrasco (elbow) in the Mets' rotation, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Jeff Brigham was the immediate replacement on the roster for Carrasco when he was placed on the injured list Tuesday, but Brigham is purely a bullpen option. Lucchesi hasn't pitched in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2021, but the 29-year-old southpaw has had a solid start to the current campaign with Triple-A Syracuse, posting a 2.30 ERA and 15:7 K:BB through three starts and 15.2 innings. Lucchesi last pitched for Syracuse on April 13 and had his turn skipped Tuesday, so he should be available to join the big-league rotation at any time.

ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A
Lucchesi was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse by the Mets on Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Impact
Lucchesi is being stretched out as a starter, and the left-hander will get a chance to pitch in the Syracuse rotation. A good showing at that level could see him making starts for a New York rotation that is not exactly filled with healthy options right now, but he can be left off fantasy rosters at this stage.

ROTOWIRE
Will be stretched out in camp
Lucchesi will be stretched out as a starter in spring training, indicating he could begin the regular season in the rotation at Triple-A Syracuse, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports...
Impact
The Mets have five veteran starters on guaranteed contracts, which means when everyone is healthy, depth options like Lucchesi will either work out of the big-league bullpen or get stashed in Syracuse. As the 29-year-old lefty has minor-league options remaining, the latter route seems more likely to begin the season. Lucchesi didn't pitch at all in the majors last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery but made eight of his 11 appearances for the Mets in 2021 as a starter, posting a 4.46 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 41:11 K:BB over 38.1 innings.

ROTOWIRE
Avoids arbitration
Lucchesi agreed to a one-year, $1.15 million contract with the Mets to avoid arbitration Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Lucchesi's salary will remain identical to what he earned in 2022, though he didn't pitch at all while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Lucchesi was able to build up to multiple innings in late September on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse, which should provide some optimism that he'll be ready to pitch to start 2023. He'll likely begin the season in the Mets' bullpen, though he could make spot starts as needed.
