Optioned to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A following Sunday's game against the Rockies, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
Rodriguez has provided depth both behind home plate and in the outfield since being recalled from Sacramento in early May, and in 14 major-league games he has gone 9-for-39 (.231) with one steal, two home runs and seven RBI. He'll return to an everyday role at Triple-A, where he boasts an .830 OPS with four steals, 14 RBI and six extra-base hits across 115 plate appearances this season.

Playing second fiddle to Susac
Rodriguez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
Rodriguez finds himself on the bench for fourth day in a row and looks as though he'll have to settle for a part-time role following Daniel Susac's recent return from the injured list. The Giants were able to temporarily open up steady playing time for Rodriguez after Patrick Bailey was dealt to the Guardians on May 9, but Rodriguez has taken himself out of the mix for regular starts by going just 1-for-19 at the plate following that trade.

Settling into regular role
Rodriguez will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Impact
Rodriguez will stick in the lineup for the fifth time in six games, with four of his starts coming behind the plate. After the Giants shipped Patrick Bailey to the Guardians on Saturday, Rodriguez is poised to serve as San Francisco's No. 1 catcher in the short term. Daniel Susac (elbow) is in the midst of a rehab assignment and will likely be a factor behind the plate once he's likely activated from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming week, but Rodriguez's ability to play the corner outfield as well as multiple infield spots could allow him to maintain a near-everyday role even if he's not operating as the Giants' primary catcher. Since being called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Rodriguez has gotten off to a nice start to his big-league career, going 5-for-11 with a home run and two RBI through his first four games.

Homers in Tuesday's loss
Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Tuesday's 10-5 loss to the Padres.
Impact
Rodriguez has started each of the last two games behind the dish. He went 0-for-3 in his debut Monday, but he didn't have to wait long for his first big-league homer, taking Jeremiah Estrada deep in the seventh inning. Rodriguez is known to have a good eye at the plate and steady contact skills, but that comes with just modest power. The Giants also have Patrick Bailey and Eric Haase on the big-league roster, as well as Daniel Susac (elbow) on the injured list, so the playing-time battle behind the dish may just be heating up. Of the group, Rodriguez likely has the most promising long-term bat, but his defense could initially limit his opportunities. The Giants have a fairly crowded infield, but Rodriguez displayed versatility in the minor leagues, seeing time at first base, second base, third base and left field, which could give him more avenues to playing time in the majors.

Recalled by San Francisco
The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
Impact
Rodriguez, Bryce Eldridge and Trevor McDonald have all been called up to the majors by the Giants ahead of the start of the team's six-game homestand Monday. Rodriguez has been productive at the plate in Triple-A, where he is slashing .330/.400/.430 with four steals, two home runs and 14 RBI across 115 plate appearances in 30 games with Sacramento. He'll likely serve as the Giants' No. 2 catcher behind Patrick Bailey while Daniel Susac (elbow) is on the 10-day IL, and Rodriguez's first appearance in a game with the Giants will officially mark his major-league debut.

Set to be called up Monday
Rodriguez is expected to be called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
Rodriguez will join the major-league roster for the first time in his career as the team gears up to begin a three-game series against the Padres at home beginning Monday. The 24-year-old has compiled a .330 average with two home runs, 14 RBI, 20 runs scored and four stolen bases over 100 at-bats in 24 contests with Sacramento this season. Rodriguez has operated primarily as a catcher with the Triple-A squad, starting 16 contests behind the plate, but he has also recorded starts at second base (2) and left field (5) in 2026.

Sent to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
Rodriguez was competing to break camp as the backup to Patrick Bailey, but instead the 23-year-old catcher will begin the 2026 campaign at Triple-A. Rodriguez was acquired from the Yankees at the trade deadline last season in the deal that sent Camilo Doval to the Bronx.

Cracks homer in spring win
Rodriguez started at designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-5 Cactus League win over the Cubs.
Impact
Rodriguez drove a solo homer to left field in the sixth inning, bringing the Giants within one run. He later singled and stole second in the seventh. The 23-year-old catcher, who was acquired by San Francisco in a deal with the Yankees in July, is unlikely to make the Opening Day roster but could be a candidate for a call-up at some point during the regular season. Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, manager Tony Vitello called him "Mr. Versatile" and added that Rodriguez will get a start at second base soon. While the majority of his time in the minors has been spent behind the plate and at DH, he also has experience playing third base.
