Begins playing light catch
Adam (shoulder) played light catch from 90 feet Monday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Adam said afterward that he "felt clean, I felt no pain, so really good." It's the first time he's done any throwing since he went down with a right shoulder strain in early July. He'll need some time to get built back up, but Adam should rejoin the Padres' bullpen sometime in September if all goes well.

Moved to 60-day IL
The Padres transferred Adam (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Monday.
Impact
He last pitched June 29, so Adam will now be ruled out until at least Aug. 29. The Padres acquired Chris Stratton from the Pirates and optioned him to Triple-A, and Adam was moved to the 60-day IL to clear up a 40-man roster spot.

Absence to extend into August
Adam said Friday that an MRI on his right shoulder revealed no major structural damage, and he's hopeful to return from the 15-day injured list in early-to-mid August, MLB.com repo...
Impact
While Adam looks to have avoided a significant injury, the righty reliever will need more than the minimum 15 days to recover from the shoulder strain that forced him to the shelf last week and won't be ready to rejoin the San Diego bullpen coming out of the All-Star break. A 2025 All-Star selection, Adam's numbers have taken a slight step back in 2026, but he's still proven to be a reliable setup man in front of closer Mason Miller. The 34-year-old posted a 2.51 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB while notching two wins, two saves and 17 holds over 32.1 innings in his 36 appearances before landing on the injured list.

Hits IL with shoulder strain
The Padres placed Adam on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to Tuesday, with a right shoulder strain.
Impact
In a corresponding move, the Padres reinstated German Marquez (forearm) from the 15-day injured list. Adam will be eligible to return after the All-Star break if he's recovered by then. The reliever had a 0.90 ERA heading into June, but had a 5.11 ERA across his 12.1 innings pitched during that month.

Secures second save
Adam pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-2 win over Atlanta.
Impact
Adam had gone three days without pitching, making him the fresh arm available after six relievers worked in Tuesday's contest. He's had a bit of a rough June, giving up six runs (including four homers) over 9.1 innings, but he was sharp in his seventh scoreless outing of the month to lock down his second save this season. Adam has added a 2.45 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB over 29.1 innings, and he also has 16 holds while working in a setup role. Mason Miller should be available to handle any save chances for this weekend's three-game series versus the Dodgers, which begins Friday.

Nails down 12th hold Friday
Adam allowed two hits and no runs over one-third of an inning against the Nationals on Friday.
Impact
Adam entered with one out and the Padres up 7-5 in the eighth inning and got into some trouble, giving up back-to-back singles. However, Adam got Jorbit Vivas to fly out for the first out in the frame, then Mason Miller finished off the inning without allowing any Nationals to cross the plate. While Adam's outing Friday was far from his best, the right-hander posted his 12th straight scoreless appearance. He's once again been very effective out of San Diego's bullpen, recording a 0.95 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB while picking up one save and a team-leading 12 holds through 19 innings spanning 21 appearances.
