Cut loose by Mets Oliva cleared waivers and was released by the Mets on Sunday.

Impact The 30-year-old was designated for assignment by New York on Thursday and will now part ways with the organization. Oliva was claimed off waivers from the Giants in late June and made four appearances for Triple-A Syracuse before being DFA'd. He played in seven games for San Francisco early in the season before being sidelined due to a hamate bone fracture in mid-April.

Impact Oliva was a waiver claim of the Mets in late June and the outfielder will now go through the waivers process again. His spot on the 40-man roster is being absorbed by Dan Hammer.

Claimed by Mets The Mets claimed Oliva off waivers from the Giants on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Impact Oliva went 1-for-7 for the Giants before suffering a hamate bone fracture and then slashed just .241/.288/.315 in 14 games with Triple-A Sacramento after returning. He'll report to Triple-A Syracuse, where he will give the Mets an experienced outfielder capable of playing all three spots on the grass.

Activated, removed from 40-man The Giants reinstated Oliva (wrist) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and designated him for assignment, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Oliva has been on the injured list since mid-April after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist. He began playing in rehab games May 30 and has slashed .241/.288/.315 across 60 plate appearances over 14 games. If he clears waivers, he'll presumably fill in as organizational depth at Triple-A Sacramento.

Impact Oliva underwent surgery in mid-April to address a left hamate bone fracture and began his rehab assignment with the Rivers Cats on Saturday after being transferred from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL in late April. The 30-year-old doubled in the third inning, hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and singled in the seventh before stealing two bases and scoring. The outfielder earned a spot on the Giants' Opening Day roster and is eligible to return to the big leagues in mid-June.
