Sent to Triple-A Norwood was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Impact The 27-year-old made only three big-league appearances last season due to right shoulder inflammation and will begin 2021 in the minors. Norwood gave up three earned runs over 9.1 innings during 2019 and should return to the majors at some point this season.

Available Wednesday Norwood (shoulder) is available to pitch in relief during Wednesday's spring game against the Mariners, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Impact Norwood spent the majority of the 2020 campaign on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation, but he's now apparently healthy and is scheduled to pitch in relief Wednesday. Assuming he's fully healthy by Opening Day, the right-hander could take on a middle-relief role for the Cubs to begin the season.
