Impact Iriarte's history of control problems continued this spring, as he walked five and hit a batter while yielding three runs over his 4.1 innings of work. The White Sox plan to continue developing the 23-year-old as a starting pitcher for now, but a shift to the bullpen might eventually come.

Impact All six of Iriarte's appearances with the White Sox last season came in relief, and it's possible a lack of command will eventually force him to move to the bullpen on a full-time basis. However, the 23-year-old has primarily been a starter in the minors and the White Sox aren't ready to give up on him in that capacity. One of the primary pieces acquired from the Padres in last spring's Dylan Cease trade, Iriarte collected a 3.71 ERA and 122:57 K:BB over 126 innings last season with Double-A Birmingham.

Impact Iriarte started in 22 of his 23 appearances with Birmingham and posted a 3.71 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 126 innings, but he's likely to begin his big-league career as a member of the bullpen. Expect the 22-year-old right-hander to be deployed mostly in lower-leverage situations initially.

Slated for call-up The White Sox are expected to recall Iriarte from Double-A Birmingham on Sunday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Impact Iriarte, a 22-year-old right-hander, will come up to fill one one of the two openings on the expanded September roster. He is expected to work mostly out of the bullpen after working primarily as a starter at Double-A. Iriarte has gone 5-7 with a 3.71 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 122:57 K:BB across 126 innings for Birmingham this season.
