Impact The switch-hitting Collins has now batted second in the Brewers' last two matchups with left-handed pitchers, but the 27-year-old has been gaining more of a foothold in Milwaukee's lineup against righties, too. Collins has started in left field in both of Milwaukee's past two matchups with righties and seems to be the main beneficiary of Garrett Mitchell's (oblique) recent move to the injured list. He's thus far held his own over his 48 plate appearances on the season, slashing .256/.333/.419 with a home run and two stolen bases.

Exits after HBP Collins was removed from Wednesday's game against the White Sox after getting hit on the elbow by a pitch, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Impact Collins took a 95-mph fastball off his right elbow during the second inning of Wednesday's contest. He initially remained in the game but was eventually replaced on defense by Vinny Capra during the third frame. The Brewers will presumably take a look at Collins to determine the extent of the damage done to his elbow, but he can be considered day-to-day for now.

Secures Opening Day spot The Brewers announced Wednesday that Collins will be included on the Opening Day roster, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Impact Collins brings good speed to the table and has the ability to play the outfield as well as second base and third base, all of which were factors in the Brewers' decision to carry him on the Opening Day roster as a bench player. He posted a .329 OPS over 11 games in the majors in 2024 and is unlikely to see significant playing time while he's up with Milwaukee.

Promoted to big club The Brewers selected Collins' contract from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Impact Collins was in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak with Nashville prior to his first career promotion to the majors. In Triple-A this season, he is slashing .271/.384/.482 with 23 stolen bases, 29 doubles, 15 home runs and 77 RBI across 500 plate appearances. Brewer Hicklen was optioned to Nashville in a corresponding move.
