Reinstated from injured list The White Sox activated Brazoban (lat) from the 15-day injured list Sunday.

Impact After missing just under a month of action, Brazoban will rejoin the big-league club Sunday. Before being shelved, the right-hander posted a 6.30 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 5:6 K:BB over 10 innings since joining the White Sox on Aug. 3. Chicago optioned Chris Murphy to Triple-A Charlotte to clear space on the active roster for Brazoban.

Beginning rehab assignment Brazoban (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, James Fegan of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Impact Brazoban landed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 25 with a left lat strain, so he shouldn't require a lengthy rehab stint with Charlotte. Picked up at the trade deadline from the Mets, Brazoban has been hit hard in 10 appearances with Chicago, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and six walks with just five strikeouts across 10 innings.

AUGUST 3 • Associated Press

Sent to South Side The White Sox acquired Brazoban from the Mets on Monday in exchange for right-handers Zach Franklin and Gabe Davis, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Impact Brazoban had mainly been used in a middle-relief role for the Mets this season, notching five wins and eight holds while pitching to a 2.56 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 49:23 K:BB in 52.2 innings over 46 appearances. The White Sox bullpen is comparatively lacking in trustworthy arms, so the 36-year-old righty could have a chance at earning more higher-leverage work with his new club. Grant Taylor (2.40 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 25.8 K-BB%) has been the White Sox's top reliever this season, but he's picked up just five saves while manager Will Venable has preferred to use him in a more versatile fireman role.

Secures eighth hold Brazoban struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to record his eighth hold of the season in a 14-3 rout of Atlanta.

Impact The game was still close when Brazoban took over from Zac Thornton with one out in the seventh inning, and the 36-year-old reliever had little trouble finishing the frame. Brazoban has been scored upon in only one of his last eight appearances, posting a 1.04 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB over 8.2 innings during that span and potentially making himself a more valuable trade asset for a Mets team looking to sell at the deadline.
