INJURIES

Heading to KBO Perez was granted his release by the Brewers on Sunday and agreed to a contract with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 30-year-old signed with the Brewers in early May after beginning the season with the Nationals, and he'd been hitting well at Triple-A Nashville with a .357/.396/.536 slash line in 23 games. Perez struggled in 13 major-league appearances between the Nationals and Cubs over the past two years, and he'll attempt to revitalize his career in South Korea.

Diaz powers Marlins to 6-1 win over reeling Brewers

Isan Diaz hit his first career grand slam and the Miami Marlins defeated the reeling Milwaukee Brewers 6-1
MAY 8, 2021 • Associated Press
Back with Brewers Perez signed a minor-league deal with the Brewers on Friday and was assigned to Triple-A Nashville.
Impact Perez spent parts of five seasons in Milwaukee from 2015 to 2019. The Brewers have faced far more than their fair share of injuries this season, so the veteran utility man could eventually fill a bench role. It's not clear he's the solution to their problems, however, as he's a career .250/.280/.382 hitter who hasn't posted a wRC+ north of 80 since 2016.

Elects free agency Perez cleared outright waivers Thursday and elected free agency, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Perez was cast off the Nationals' 40-man roster Tuesday after he hit .053 with 10 strikeouts in 19 at-bats to begin the season. Rather than accepting his outright assignment to Triple-A Rochester, the 30-year-old will now be free to sign elsewhere as a free agent.

Designated for assignment Perez was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact The veteran made the team's Opening Day roster and started four of the first five games, but his playing time fell off dramatically after that, as he started just one of the next 19 games. In 21 trips to the plate, he posted a .196 OPS. He doesn't offer much at the plate, but his defensive versatility could help him land somewhere in a bench role.

Playing time drops Perez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact The 30-year-old started the first three games of the season but now finds himself on the bench for the second time in the base three games. Perez won't have an everyday role in the lineup, but he should continue to split time at second base with Luis Garcia and Jordy Mercer until Josh Harrison (COVID-19 protocols) returns from the injured list.

Not starting Friday Perez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Perez started the first three games of the season but will move to the bench for Friday's contest. Luis Garcia will start at the keystone and bat seventh for the Nationals.
APRIL 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Included in Opening Day lineup Perez will start at second base and bat sixth in Tuesday's season opener versus Atlanta.
Impact Initially expected to begin the season in a utility role, Perez now appears to have a path to full-time job after Josh Harrison was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday. Though he'll get the nod at second base with southpaw Drew Smyly on the bump, Perez will still have to fend off the lefty-hitting Luis Garcia for starts against right-handed pitching while Harrison remains in quarantine.
APRIL 6, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
DFA'd by Cubs Perez was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Monday.
Impact Perez saw minimal playing time in the majors since his contract was selected earlier in August, and he'll now be off the 40-man roster to clear room for left-hander Josh Osich, who was acquired via trade Monday. It's unclear whether Perez will reappear in the majors over the second half of the 2020 season.
AUGUST 31, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Friday Perez is starting at second base and batting eighth in Friday's game against the White Sox.
Impact Perez joined the Cubs on Tuesday and this will be his first start for the team. The veteran utility player slashed .228/.262/.379 in 91 games for the Brewers in 2019. He's unlikely to earn significant playing time in Chicago unless other players go down due to injury or illness.
