Impact Crochet made his first appearance since being activated from the injured list Wednesday after battling a shoulder injury. He was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the eighth inning, but he allowed an inherited runner to score after allowing a single and walk. He gave up a run of his own two batters later, so the performance left plenty to be desired. However, with the White Sox out of playoff contention, their primary focus is getting the young reliever some work prior to the close of the regular season.

Impact Crochet struck out five batters and issued no walks over two scoreless -- and hitless -- innings of relief at the Double-A level. Out since June 20 due to left shoulder inflammation, he could return to the White Sox as early as this weekend.

Impact The left-hander has been sidelined since late June with shoulder inflammation and had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment following a setback. Crochet struck out a pair in a perfect frame for the Barons on Wednesday in what was his first appearance in exactly two months. He's hoping to rejoin the White Sox' bullpen before the end of the season.

Impact Crochet was initially forced to the 15-day injured list June 20 with what the White Sox labeled as shoulder inflammation, and he looked as though he would have a chance to return in early August after he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment following the All-Star break. However, he never ended up making any appearances in the minors after feeling soreness in his shoulder July 21 before he was diagnosed with a more significant injury. Since he's unlikely to resume throwing until at least the middle of August and is expected to be built up slowly, Crochet probably won't be an option in the White Sox bullpen until early September, in a best-case scenario. The timing of Crochet's injury is particularly inconvenient, as he may have been in the mix for saves for the White Sox in the wake of closer Liam Hendricks undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery.

Impact Crochet has reached the finish line in his long road to recovery from Tommy John surgery and will be available out of Chicago's bullpen Tuesday night against the Guardians. The 23-year-old left-hander posted a 2.54 ERA with 73 strikeouts across his first 60.1 major-league innings between the 2020-2021 seasons. His rehab assignment was a bit rocky, but Crochet could quickly take on a high-leverage setup role with a White Sox team that has gotten off to a dreadful 14-28 start.
