INJURIES

Pushed off 40-man roster Atlanta outrighted White (hip) to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Impact White was just acquired from the Mariners on Sunday as part of the Jarred Kelenic trade, but the 27-year-old former top prospect has already lost his 40-man roster spot. He's a career .165/.235/.308 hitter in 306 major-league plate appearances and missed the majority of the 2023 season following May hip surgery.
DECEMBER 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Likely ready for spring Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Tuesday that White (hip) is expected to be ready for the start of spring training, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact White hasn't appeared in a major-league game since 2021 due to a series of severe injuries, but he's made steady progress in his recovery from his latest hip surgery this past May and should be able to enjoy a relatively normal offseason. The 27-year-old former top prospect owns a career .165/.235/.308 big-league batting line in 306 plate appearances.

Impact White appears to be headed for another lost season after he required another procedure on the same hip he had surgically repaired in 2021. The 27-year-old is expected to head to the Mariners' spring training complex in Arizona later this week to begin what will likely be an arduous rehab process. The Mariners won't have a more specific timeline for White's return until he gets further along in his rehab, but Hollander's comments suggest the first baseman won't be ready to return from the 60-day injured list until September at the earliest. White had previously been shelved after suffering a Grade 2 left groin strain while playing for Triple-A Tacoma on April 1, with the Mariners later determining after follow-up tests that he needed another hip surgery.
MAY 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Undergoes surgery White underwent hip surgery Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact White landed on the injured list in April with a left adductor strain, and the decision was ultimately made to send him under the knife. A timeline for his recovery was not revealed, but his absence will likely wind up being measured in months.

Mariners injury updates: Andres Munoz likely out until mid-June; Evan White to have second hip surgery Munoz has setback with shoulder and has been shut down from baseball activity as many Mariners battling injuries.
MAY 10, 2023 • SEATTLETIMES.COM
Placed on 60-day IL White was placed on the 60-day injured list Sunday with a left adductor strain.
Impact White suffered the injury while playing in a game with Triple-A Tacoma last week, but he'll be moved to the 60-day major-league IL so that the Mariners can clear out a 40-man roster spot. The 26-year-old former top prospect hasn't appeared in a game at the MLB level since May 2021 due to a combination of injuries and ineffectiveness. He holds a career .165/.235/.308 big-league batting line.

Out two months with groin strain White is expected to be sidelined two months after suffering a Grade 2 groin strain while playing at Triple-A Toledo, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Impact White has been snakebit by injuries, having missed most of the last two seasons with a hip injury and sports hernia surgery. Even when healthy, there doesn't appear to be a fit for White on the major-league club.
APRIL 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A White was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Tacoma by the Mariners, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
Impact White will head to Triple-A as expected to receive regular at-bats after missing the majority of the 2021 and 2022 seasons due to injury. The former top prospect has struggled mightily at the highest level, but his strong defense at first could make him an option for the Mariners if he does stay healthy and handles Triple-A pitching.
MARCH 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Hitless in return to action White (general soreness) started at first base and went 0-for-2 in the Mariners' 6-1 Cactus League win over the Brewers on Sunday.
Impact White logged five innings in the field and took his last at-bat in the sixth as the Mariners eased him back into action following a two-game absence for rest. The 2017 first-round pick will continue his quest for a spot on the Opening Day roster moving forward, but he's hitting just .125 (1-for-8) across four Cactus League contests.
MARCH 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Back in lineup White (soreness) is hitting sixth and playing first base Sunday in Cactus League action against the Brewers.
Impact White was scratched from the lineup Friday because of general soreness, and the Mariners gave him a couple of days to recover. The infielder is battling for a spot on the Opening Day roster, but the former top prospect is likely ticketed for Triple-A Tacoma to begin the year.
MARCH 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Scratched due to soreness White was scratched from the Mariners' Cactus League lineup Friday due to general soreness, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Impact Mariners general manager Justin Hollander called it a precautionary move and said it's not a huge concern. White slugged his first home run of the spring Monday in his second Cactus League game, and he'll hopefully be able to return to action over the weekend. He's trying to avoid being sent back to Triple-A Tacoma to begin the 2023 campaign, although it's tough to project him for regular playing time with Ty France at first base and Teoscar Hernandez likely to be the regular DH.

Impact Though White was limited to just 107 plate appearances at Triple-A Tacoma in 2022 due to his prolonged recovery from sports hernia surgery last spring and then closed the campaign on the affiliate's 7-day injured list due to hip discomfort, the 26-year-old looks as though he won't face any restrictions when he reports to camp in Arizona. White is entering the fourth season of the six-year, $24 million deal he inked with Seattle in November 2019, but due to his poor health in recent years and his underwhelming production at the big-league level, the Mariners no longer envision him as their everyday first baseman. He'll get the chance to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster but is most likely to begin the campaign at Tacoma unless an injury to All-Star Ty France opens up an opportunity at first base.
FEBRUARY 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sidelined at Triple-A Triple-A Tacoma placed White on its 7-day injured list Sept. 10 with hip discomfort, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact White has been sidelined nearly all season after requiring sports hernia surgery in March and then experiencing hip soreness in early June while on a rehab assignment. The 26-year-old returned to action in early August and was eventually reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A after his 30-day rehab window expired. White had gone 8-for-27 with three home runs and three walks over his last seven games at Tacoma to potentially put himself in the mix for a late-season call-up to Seattle, but the renewed hip discomfort likely ends those hopes.
