Marlins, Reds, Astros lock up spots in the postseason

Losing work to Markakis Inciarte is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.
Impact Inciarte began to poach starts from Nick Markakis while the latter was slumping earlier this month, but the former appears to have since faded into a fourth-outfielder role. He'll be on the bench for a fifth straight game while the Braves roll out an outfield of Markakis, Ronald Acuna and Adam Duvall.

Scores twice in blowout win Inciarte went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs Wednesday in the Braves' 29-9 win over the Marlins.
Impact Batting out of the ninth spot in the order didn't prevent Inciarte from getting in on the Braves' NL-record scoring outburst, though the outfielder posted one of the more modest box-score lines of the night. After appearing to slip into a full-time reserve role earlier in the month, Inciarte picked up his third straight start while the struggling Nick Markakis was benched for the second day in a row. Of the two players, Markakis typically provides more value at the plate, but until he breaks out of his 0-for-24 funk to begin September, the Braves may continue to favor Inciarte and his superior defense in the outfield.

Riley, Swanson help Braves to wild 12-10 win over Phillies

Launches first home run Inciarte went 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk, an RBI and a run scored Friday but the Braves fell to the Phillies 7-4 in 11 innings.
Impact Inciarte came off the bench in the fifth inning as a pinch-runner for Adam Duvall but stayed in the game afterward and actually was productive at the plate. He and Austin Riley hit back-to-back home runs to open up the seventh inning as it was Inciarte's first long ball of the 2020 campaign. Despite the home run, Inciarte is only hitting .208/.301/.278 with six RBI and should remain in a bench role unless another outfielder gets injured again.
AUGUST 29, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Takes back work in center field Inciarte will start in center field and will bat ninth Sunday against the Phillies.
Impact Inciarte appeared headed for a full-time bench role after posting a .521 OPS through the Braves' first 17 games, but Ronald Acuna's (wrist) and Nick Markakis' (COVID-19) subsequent moves to the injured list has reopened playing time for the 29-year-old. Though will Inciarte will make his 10th straight start Sunday, he hasn't shown any improvement in his form at the plate, supplying a .491 OPS in the preceding nine contests. Acuna looks poised to come off the IL at some point during the upcoming week and Markakis could also be cleared soon, so despite the recent uptick in playing time, Inciarte doesn't look like a strong pickup in most fantasy leagues.

On bench again Monday Inciarte will be on the bench Monday against the Phillies.
Impact Inciarte clearly seems to have fallen out of favor in Atlanta, as he's now started just one of the team's last five games. It's hard to say he's earned regular at-bats, as he's hitting just .171/.293/.229. Ronald Acuna again shifts to center field, with Nick Markakis starting in right.
AUGUST 10, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Not starting Game 2 Inciarte is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader in Philadelphia.
Impact Inciarte started in center field and batted ninth in the matinee, going 0-for-3. Ronald Acuna will shift to center field for Game 2 with Adam Duvall and Nick Markakis starting in left and right field, respectively.
AUGUST 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting Saturday Inciarte is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.
Impact The Braves are going with the same lineup they intended to use Friday before that game got rained out. That means Inciarte is out of the lineup for the third straight day but just the second straight game. Ronald Acuna again starts in center field, with Nick Markakis starting in right.
AUGUST 8, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting again Friday Inciarte is out of the lineup Friday against the Phillies.
Impact The 29-year-old sits for the second straight game despite the fact the Braves are facing another right-handed starter (Vince Velazquez). The return of Nick Markakis is already making a dent in Inciarte's playing time.
AUGUST 7, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Thursday's lineup Inciarte isn't starting Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact Even with right-hander Nate Pearson on the mound for the Blue Jays on Thursday, Inciarte will take a seat after going 3-for-9 with a double, two runs and two stolen bases over the past three games. Ronald Acuna will shift to center field with Nick Markakis making his first start of the season in right field.

On bench versus lefty Inciarte is not in the lineup Sunday against the Mets.
Impact Inciarte will head to the bench for the third time this season with southpaw David Peterson on the mound for the Mets. He's struggled to begin the season with a .460 OPS through 28 plate appearances. Ronald Acuna will slide into center field Sunday while Adam Duvall takes over in right.
