Drawing second straight start Dingler will start at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Giants.

Impact Dingler will pick up a second straight start and could see the larger portion of the work behind the plate while fellow backstop Jake Rogers has fallen into a skid at the plate over his last seven contests (1-for-23, 11 strikeouts). Though he hasn't been especially productive in his own right since getting called up on July 29 (.150 average, .477 OPS through 22 plate appearances), Dingler turned in a .938 OPS over a larger sample of 71 games at Triple-A Toledo and would seem to bring more upside to the table.

Impact Since his promotion, Dingler has now started two of six games, with Jake Rogers getting the call behind the plate for the other four. The rookie catcher is 1-for-6 with a 3:1 K:BB in his first seven major-league plate appearances.

The 25-year-old certainly earned the promotion, as he was slashing .308/.379/.559 for Triple-A Toledo so far this season, and Sunday's trade of Carson Kelly opened up a roster spot. The rookie will likely split time with Jake Rogers behind the plate just like Kelly did, though Dingler could quickly seize a larger share of playing time if he plays well. His short-term fantasy value is pointing upward.

Impact Dingler has been very solid at the plate this season with Double-A Erie, slashing .254/.372/.464 with nine homers and 42 RBI across 218 plate appearances. The 24-year-old backstop will now make his way to Triple-A for the first time in his career and could see the majors next season if his bat holds up against tougher competition.

Impact He also hit .448 with four home runs and two steals in eight games during a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland. Dingler turns 25 in September, so he is old for Double-A and especially old for Single-A, but there's no denying this is the best stretch of his professional career. The 38th overall pick in 2020, Dingler has a 47.6 percent hard-hit rate and should soon earn a promotion to Triple-A.
