Shipped to Phillies
Phelps was traded from the Brewers to the Phillies on Monday in exchange for three prospects, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Phelps has boasted a high strikeout rate to begin the season with a 20:2 K:BB and 2.77 ERA over 13 innings. He carries a 2-3 record with one blown save this season. With Brandon Workman and Hector Neris in the fold for the Phillies, he should continue to pitch mainly in non-save situations in Philadelphia.

Takes loss, blown save
Phelps (2-3) took the loss and a blown save against the Pirates on Sunday, allowing a two-run home run in one inning pitched. He struck out two.
Impact
Phelps struck out a pair of Pirates but allowed a single to Cole Tucker before Gregory Polanco took him deep for a go-ahead two-run homer. Despite his rough outing Sunday, Phelps still holds a solid 2.45 ERA on the campaign.

Excelling in setup role
Phelps struck out three batters and tossed a perfect eighth inning in Sunday's victory over the Cubs.
Impact
It's been a few years since Phelps occupied a key spot in someone's bullpen, but the Brewers are using him in the setup role this season, and he has produced stellar results thus far. Over 8.2 innings of relief Phelps has given up just one earned run (1.04 ERA) while allowing only six runners to reach base and punching out 13 batters. Given the results and roles up to this point, Phelps -- not Corey Knebel -- would presumably be next in line for a save opportunity should Josh Hader be unavailable.

Primed for big-league debut
Hatch made Toronto's 30-man roster.
Impact
This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Hatch has never pitched above Double-A. The 25-year-old righty logged a 2.80 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 34:2 K:BB in 35.1 innings (six starts) at Double-A after getting traded to the Blue Jays from the Cubs in last year's deadline deal that sent David Phelps to Chicago. He had a 51.1 percent groundball rate over that stretch, which was easily a career best, due to an increase in cutter and changeup usage. The Jays could deploy Hatch in multi-inning relief stints if they intend to continue developing him as a long-term starter.
