Shelved by hamstring strain The Mets placed Duarte on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamstring strain.

Impact The injury ends what has been a terrific season out of the Mets' bullpen this season, as he holds a 2.12 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB over 29.2 innings. Duarte is under team control for several more years and has set himself up well to be part of the Mets' bullpen in 2027.

Collects second save of season Duarte was credited with the save in Monday's 2-1 win over the Padres, striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning.

Impact Kodai Senga was brought out for the save chance Sunday against the Nationals, so the Mets turned to Duarte to protect the team's one-run lead. Twelve of Duarte's 14 pitches went for strikes, and he started and ended the inning with a punchout. Senga appears to be the Mets' preferred closer while Devin Williams (shoulder) is on the IL, but Duarte could be in the mix for occasional save chances in the interim.

Impact The Mets cruised to a win after posting a five-spot in the first inning, but starter Christian Scott lasted only four frames before getting the hook. Duarte was credited with the win after holding Atlanta in check in the seventh and eighth innings before handing the ball off to Kodai Senga for the save. Duarte has been stingy since rejoining the big-league bullpen after the All-Star break, and over his last nine appearances and 12.1 innings he's produced a 1.46 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB with one save and two holds in addition to his first win of 2026.

After walking Chase DeLauter with one out, Duarte settled in to record the final two outs, stranding the tying and go-ahead runs on base to earn his second major-league save, his first since 2023. Impact Duarte had exercised the upward mobility clause in his contract, so the Mets either had to add him to the major-league roster or risk losing him to another organization. They chose the former after Duarte posted a 2.60 ERA and 14:9 K:BB over 17.1 innings with Syracuse. When/if Duarte makes an appearance, it will be his first at the big-league level since 2024.

Impact Duarte looks to be healthy again after he missed the entire 2025 season while recovering from UCL revision surgery on his right elbow, which he underwent in May 2024. Though the right-hander is nearly two years removed from his surgery, his poor showing in his spring debut indicates that he may need some time to regain his command. After signing with the Mets on a minor-league deal over the winter, Duarte is expected to open the 2026 campaign in the bullpen at Triple-A Syracuse.
