Chris Bassitt sets down six Rays | 05/14/2025 Chris Bassitt strikes out six Rays over his 5 2/3 innings of work during his start against Tampa Bay
15 HOURS AGO ‱ MLB.COM
Gives up one run in no-decision Bassitt did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's game against Tampa Bay, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings.
Impact Bassitt entered Wednesday's game having yielded three earned runs or more in each of his last four outings. He allowed at least two baserunners in three of the first four innings, but he was able to limit the damage to one run in the fourth frame. Bassitt has a 3.16 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 51.1 innings this season, and his 55 strikeouts is eighth most in the American League. He also boasts a 4.1 percent walk rate, which is in the 93rd percentile in the majors. Bassitt is slated to face the Padres at home next week.

Mixed results in third win Bassitt (3-2) earned the win Thursday against the Angels after allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out six.
Impact Bassitt may have given up a season-high five runs Thursday, but that didn't prevent him from throwing at least five innings in his eighth consecutive start to begin the campaign. While the right-hander matched a season worst with eight hits allowed and served up two long balls in his third straight outing, he issued one walk or less for the sixth time already this year. Bassitt will carry a solid 3.35 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 49:8 K:BB over 45.2 innings into his next scheduled appearance at home versus the Rays, who have struggled with a .624 OPS over 12 games away from hitter-friendly George M. Steinbrenner Field in 2025.

Gives up three runs in no-decision Bassitt didn't factor into the decision in Friday's game against the Guardians, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four over 5.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.
Impact Bassitt gave up solo home runs to Carlos Santana and Bo Naylor in the second and fourth innings, respectively, and Bassitt was tagged for a third run in the sixth before being lifted for Chad Green. Bassitt was able to generate 11 whiffs on 98 pitches (65 strikes) but fell two outs short of logging his third quality start of the season. He's allowed 11 runs over his last three outings and is up to a 2.95 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 39.2 innings. Bassitt is in line to face the Angels on the road next week.

Yields four runs in loss Bassitt (2-2) came away with the loss in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 5.2 innings.
Impact Bassitt gave up a solo homer to Trent Grisham in the first at-bat of the first inning, but the former settled in keep the Yankees off the board over the next four frames. However, things fell apart in the sixth inning for Bassitt when he was tagged for three more runs, including a solo home run by Aaron Judge to open the frame. Bassitt allowed just two earned runs over his first four starts of the season, but he has given up eight runs over his last two outings and is up to a 2.62 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 39:7 K:BB across 34.1 innings. He's lined up to face the Guardians at home next weekend.

Stumbles for first time this season Bassitt (2-1) took the loss against the Astros on Tuesday after allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk in 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
Impact Although Bassitt had allowed just two runs through his first four starts of the year, it was a struggle for him Tuesday. The veteran right-hander matched a season low with three punchouts, and most of the damage was done during a three-run first inning by the Astros. Bassitt still sports a 1.88 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a sparkling 34:6 K:BB over 28.2 frames ahead of a tough matchup at home against Boston in his next scheduled outing. However, the righty does have a strong 2.27 ERA and 35:18 K:BB in seven appearances (43.2 innings) versus the Red Sox as a member of the Blue Jays since 2023.

Fans 10 in second win Bassitt (2-0) collected the win in Wednesday's 3-1 victory over Atlanta, scattering three hits and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out 10.
Impact While Drake Baldwin eventually ruined the combined shutout bid with a solo shot in the ninth inning off Jeff Hoffman, the Blue Jays bullpen picked up where Bassitt left off en route to a franchise-record 19 strikeouts in a nine-inning game. The Ks kept Bassitt from lasting long enough to record a quality start -- he left after 90 pitches (59 strikes), including 33 called or swinging strikes -- but the veteran right-hander has been brilliant to begin the season, allowing just two runs over his first four starts. Bassitt will take a 0.77 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 31:5 K:BB through 23.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Houston.
