Suffers third loss
Palmquist (0-3) took the loss in Monday's game against the Cubs. He conceded two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings with four strikeouts.
Impact
The rookie southpaw held his own in Wrigley Field during this 92-pitch outing, producing his best work yet after allowing 11 earned runs over his first two starts. Palmquist limited the Cubs to just one extra-base hit as the pair of runs scored via a Dansby Swanson groundout in the first and a Kyle Tucker single in the fifth. With this effort, Palmquist lowered his ERA from 11.88 to 8.78 across 13.1 total innings. Things won't get easier for the 24-year-old, as he lines up to make his next start at the Mets this weekend.

Shelled in second start
Palmquist dropped to 0-2 in Wednesday's 9-5 loss to the Phillies, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.
Impact
Palmquist got into a hole early, allowing two runs in the first inning. The Colorado offense picked him up and tied the game in the bottom of the second inning, but Palmquist then gave up three runs in the third and was on the hook for the loss from there on out. The southpaw lacked both command and control in the outing -- he served up two home runs and a double while throwing only 46 of 86 pitches for strikes and issuing four free passes. Palmquist's MLB career has gotten off to a rough beginning, as he's allowed 11 earned runs through 8.1 frames over his first two starts. Ryan Feltner (back) has been throwing from the mound as he works his way back from the injured list, and when he eventually returns, it's likely that Palmquist will head back to the minors.

Shelled in second start
Palmquist (0-2) took the loss against Philadelphia on Monday, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.
Impact
Palmquist got into a hole early, allowing two runs in the first inning. The Rockies' offense picked him up and tied the score 2-2 in the second, but Palmquist then gave up three runs in the third and was on the hook for the loss from there on out. The southpaw lacked both command and control in the outing -- he served up two homers and a double while throwing only 46 of 86 pitches for strikes and issuing four free passes. Palmquist's MLB career has gotten off to a very rocky beginning, as he's allowed 11 earned runs through 8.1 frames over his first two starts. Ryan Feltner (back) has been throwing from the mound as he works his way back from the IL, and when he returns it's likely that Palmquist will head back to the minors.

Drawing another start
Palmquist is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies at Coors Field.
Impact
Palmquist will remain in the rotation for at least one more turn after he was summoned from Triple-A Albuquerque last week to take over the starting spot that belonged to Bradley Blalock, who had been filling in for the injured Ryan Feltner (back). The 24-year-old southpaw made his MLB debut on the road Friday in Arizona, taking a loss while giving up five earned runs on six hits and one walk over four innings. Palmquist won't make for a comfortable streaming option Wednesday when he pitches at Coors Field for the first time, and he could be at risk of a demotion to Triple-A after the start if Feltner is able to make a minor-league rehab appearance within the next few days and is deemed ready to return from the injured list the following week.

Struggles in big-league debut
Palmquist (0-1) allowed five runs on six hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout as he took the loss Friday versus the Diamondbacks.
Impact
A steady stream of traffic on the bases and productive outs by Arizona made Palmquist's work more difficult in his major-league debut. He threw 48 of 76 pitches for strikes, and it didn't help that the Rockies offered just two hits and four walks without scoring a run to support him. Palmquist posted a 3.82 ERA over 35.1 innings with Triple-A Albuquerque prior to his call-up, so it's likely asking a lot of the 24-year-old to step in with excellent performances right away. The southpaw is tentatively projected for his home debut versus the Phillies next week, which makes him incredibly risky for fantasy managers.

Officially called up from Triple-A
The Rockies selected Palmquist's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
Impact
Palmquist started the season in Triple-A, but with Ryan Feltner (back) still on the injured list, the 24-year-old southpaw is slated to make his major-league debut against Arizona on Friday, per Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. Palmquist has a 2-2 record across seven starts in Triple-A this season with a 3.82 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 45:18 K:BB across 35.1 innings.

Expected to make MLB debut Friday
The Rockies are expected to call up Palmquist from Triple-A Albuquerque to make his major-league debut Friday in Arizona, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Palmquist has collected a 3.82 ERA and 45:18 K:BB over 35.1 innings covering seven starts in a difficult pitching environment with Albuquerque this season. The left-hander boasts a career 31.1 percent strikeout rate in the minors but also an 11.2 percent walk rate. Palmquist could earn additional starts for the Rockies if he pitches well.
