Impact Benge is firmly in the mix -- and perhaps the favorite -- to be the Mets' Opening Day left fielder. The top prospect slashed .281/.385/.472 with 15 homers, 22 stolen bases and a 68:92 BB:K over 116 games covering three levels in the minors last season. Tyrone Taylor and MJ Melendez represent Benge's biggest competition for the left-field job.

Impact Benge began 2025 at High-A Brooklyn but made it to Triple-A Syracuse by the end of the season, slashing .282/.389/.467 with 14 homers, 69 RBI, 85 runs scored and 24 steals between three affiliates. However, his progress noticeably stalled at Syracuse, where he posted just a .583 OPS through 103 Triple-A plate appearances. Although the 22-year-old's rapid ascent through New York's farm system will buy him a chance to win the center field job in Queens, the club may want to see Benge perform better at Triple-A before calling him up to the bigs.

Moving up to Triple-A Benge was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Joe DeMayo of SNYtv reports.

Impact Benge has been red-hot with Double-A Binghamton, posting a .317 average with eight home runs, 23 RBI, 28 runs scored and four stolen bases over 126 at-bats in 32 games this season. The 22-year-old will now look to keep it up at Triple-A, joining the likes of other fellow prospects Jett Williams and Ryan Clifford, both of whom were also promoted to Syracuse on Sunday.
