Shipped to Boston The Yankees traded Narvaez to the Red Sox on Wednesday in exchange for Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Impact Narvaez appeared in six games for the Yankees in 2024, during which he went 3-for-13 at the plate with six strikeouts. However, he slashed .254/.370/.412 with 58 RBI and nine stolen bases in Triple-A, and he should have a solid chance to supplant Mickey Gasper as Boston's backup catcher during spring training. Enmanuel Valdez was designated for assignment in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Narvaez.

Optioned to Triple-A The Yankees optioned Narvaez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
Impact With Jose Trevino (quad) returning from the injured list Thursday and claiming the backup catcher spot, Narvaez will be pushed back to the minor leagues. The 25-year-old appeared in six games during his latest stint in the majors, going 3-for-13 with six strikeouts. Should Trevino or Austin Wells need to miss an extended period of time down the stretch, Narvaez would almost certainly be called upon to rejoin the Yankees.

Recalled from Triple-A The Yankees recalled Narvaez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
Impact With Jose Trevino (quad) headed to the injured list, Narvaez will rejoin the big-league roster in order to provide additional depth behind the plate. The 25-year-old backstop has slashed .269/.386/.443 with nine homers and 47 RBI across 308 plate appearances in Triple-A, and he'll be making his MLB debut whenever he appears in a game.
