Playing time down after deadline De La Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Impact De La Cruz made three straight starts in right field from last Saturday through Monday, but he's moved into a reserve role in the aftermath of the trade deadline. With the Phillies bringing aboard Luis Arraez and installing him as their everyday second baseman, Bryce Harper has supplanted De La Cruz as the team's everyday right fielder as part of a domino effect that has also resulted in Bryson Stott and Alec Bohm changing positions. De La Cruz will hit the bench Sunday for the fifth time in six games.

Earning more opportunities De La Cruz will start in right field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Impact De La Cruz will be included in the lineup over the left-handed-hitting Gabriel Rincones for the second straight game while the Marlins send another right-handed starter (Ryan Gusto) to the bump. Initially ticketed for a short-side platoon role when he was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, De La Cruz may have at least temporarily earned himself a look as a full-time player after getting off to a hot start to his tenure in Philadelphia. He's recorded at least one hit in each of his first five games with the club, going 8-for-11 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored.

JULY 29 • Associated Press

Added to MLB roster The Phillies recalled De La Cruz from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Impact The 29-year-old exercised the opt-out in his minor-league contract with the Phillies but quickly re-signed and was added to the 40-man roster in early July, and he'll now get his first look in the majors this season. De La Cruz has 12 homers with an .806 OPS in 84 games with the IronPigs this year, but he hasn't seen significant MLB action since he posted a .654 OPS across 149 games between Pittsburgh and Miami in 2024.

JULY 21 • ROTOWIRE

Set for promotion Tuesday The Phillies will recall De La Cruz from Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Impact The Phillies are tentatively scheduled to face three left-handed starting pitchers this week, offering an opportunity for the club to throw the right-handed-swinging De La Cruz into the mix. De La Cruz was added to the 40-man roster earlier this month but has spent the entire season at Lehigh Valley, where he's slashed .269/.358/.448 with 12 home runs and a 44:74 BB:K.

JULY 20 • ROTOWIRE

Rejoins Philly, sent to Triple-A The Phillies signed De La Cruz to a major-league contract Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Impact The veteran outfielder recently exercised the opt-out in his minor-league contract with the Phillies, but he's now back in the organization as a member of the 40-man roster. De La Cruz has a .254/.344/.429 slash line with 12 homers in 75 games with Lehigh Valley this year and could soon get a look in the big leagues with Gabriel Rincones struggling toa .553 OPS in his first taste of the majors following Adolis Garcia's season-ending lat surgery.

JULY 5 • ROTOWIRE

Falls short in bid for roster The Phillies reassigned De La Cruz to minor-league camp Sunday.

Impact De La Cruz previously appeared in 16 games for Atlanta in 2025 and slashed .191/.240/.213 across 50 plate appearances before being claimed off waivers by the Yankees and later outrighted off their 40-man roster. He linked up with the Phillies on a minor-league deal over the winter but was unable to secure a reserve outfielder role on the Opening Day roster. The 29-year-old is expected to open the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Nets MiLB deal from Phillies The Phillies signed De La Cruz to a minor-league contract Nov. 6.

Impact De La Cruz had just a .453 OPS in 16 games for Atlanta this season and spent most of the year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the Yankees organization. Slated to turn 29 in December, De La Cruz is a career .251/.295/.402 hitter over parts of five big-league seasons and will give the Phillies some experienced outfield depth at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

OCTOBER 25, 2025 • BATTERYPOWER.COM

Outrighted to Triple-A De La Cruz was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Impact De La Cruz will remain with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre moving forward after posting a .251 average with 10 home runs, 29 RBI, 29 runs scored and six stolen bases over 55 games with the team this season. The outfielder struggled to a .191/.240/.213 slash line with Atlanta over 47 at-bats in 16 games in March and April, and he hasn't seen a major-league at-bat since joining the Yankees' organization May 1.
