INJURIES

Optioned to Triple-A The Tigers optioned Hicklen to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
Impact Hicklen picked up the first two hits of his major-league career Thursday in Colorado but finds himself back in the minors a day later. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for John Brebbia's (triceps) return from the 15-day injured list.
6 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Two hits, steal in Game 2 win Hicklen went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in an 11-1 win over the Rockies in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.
Impact The hits were Hicklen's first as a big-leaguer, with this being his 10th game in the majors over parts of three seasons. This was his Tigers debut after he failed to appear in a game during a brief stint in the majors in April. The Tigers are dealing with injuries in the outfield, but it's unclear if Hicklen will get a longer look. He started in center field in the nightcap of Thursday's doubleheader, but that's been where Javier Baez has been playing -- and excelling -- in recent weeks.

Back in big leagues The Tigers Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.comHicklen from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.
Impact Hicklen didn't appear in a game during his last stint with the big-league club in April, but he'll get another chance to make his season debut while adding to Detroit's outfield depth for Thursday's twin bill against Colorado. The 29-year-old has slashed .242/.368/.305 through 114 plate appearances in Triple-A and remains in search of his first career major-league hit.

Optioned to Triple-A The Tigers optioned Hicklen to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
Impact Hicklen was with the big club for only a couple days and didn't make an appearance. The Tigers will announce a corresponding move prior to Friday's game in Minnesota, which is likely to be Gleyber Torres (oblique) being activated from the 10-day injured list.

Moving up to majors The Brewers recalled Hicklen from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
Impact Hicklen will provide the Tigers with an extra right-handed bat off the bench with Detroit placing Manuel Margot (knee) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. The 29-year-old Hicklen has logged just nine total plate appearances in the majors but was a standout performer at the Triple-A level for the Brewers' affiliate in Nashville in 2024, slashing .246/.363/.470 with 22 home runs and 44 stolen bases in 499 plate appearances. Hicklen could serve as a short-side platoon outfielder while he's up with the Tigers.

Hicklen now is a Brewer in name only after Tigers acquire him from Milwaukee

Brewer Hicklen is no longer a Brewer
MARCH 28 • ASSOCIATED PRESS
Dealt to Motor City The Tigers acquired Hicklen from the Brewers on Friday in exchange for cash and optioned him to Triple-A Toledo.
Impact Hicklen was dropped from the Brewers' 40-man roster Thursday in order to create room for Jake Bauers, but the former will reclaim a roster spot upon joining his new organization. The 29-year-old outfielder slashed .246/.363/.470 in Triple-A last season but isn't likely to spend much time in the majors this year.
MARCH 28 • ROTOWIRE
Kicked off 40-man roster The Brewers designated Hicklen for assignment Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact The club needed to free up space on its 40-man roster. Hicklen has a good chance of passing through waivers unclaimed and remaining in the organization.
MARCH 27 • ROTOWIRE
Sent to Triple-A The Brewers optioned Hicklen to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
Impact Hicklen appeared in 11 Cactus League games, going 4-for-20 with two doubles and eight strikeouts. He's played in nine big-league games since debuting in 2022 and isn't likely to see significant big-league action this year given Milwaukee's outfield depth.
MARCH 14 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to Triple-A The Brewers optioned Hicklen to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
Impact Hicklen appeared in three games for the Brewers since being recalled by the big club on Sept. 1, going 0-for-5 with four strikeouts and one stolen base over that span. He'll return to an everyday role in the outfield with Nashville, where he is slashing .247/.364/.484 with 42 stolen bases, 21 home runs and 68 RBI across 453 plate appearances this season. Milwaukee selected Isaac Collins' contract from Nashville in a corresponding move.

Gets call-up from Triple-A The Brewers recalled Hicklen from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
Impact Signed to a minor-league deal over the winter, Hicklen received a spot on Milwaukee's 40-man roster over the All-Star break after he got off to a hot start to the season at Triple-A. The 28-year-old outfielder's production has slowed in the second half, but he still slashed .247/.364/.484 with 21 home runs and 42 stolen bases over 105 games with Nashville to earn the promotion to Milwaukee in September. Hicklen will likely serve as a fourth or fifth outfielder to begin his time with the Brewers and could be deployed mostly as a pinch runner or late-inning defensive replacement.

The right-handed Hicklen will be put to work right away, as he'll start in right field and bat fifth while the Reds send southpaw Brandon Williamson to the hill. Hicklen could end up settling in as a regular platoon mate for the left-handed-hitting Sal Frelick in right.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Added to 40-man roster The Brewers selected Hicklen's contract and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Though he won't receive a promotion to the big leagues coming out of the All-Star break, Hicklen's addition to Milwaukee's 40-man roster at least removes a potential obstacle in him getting a call-up at a later date. The 28-year-old outfielder has been one of the top performers at Nashville this season, slashing .270/.383/.571 with 19 home runs and 26 stolen bases across 313 plate appearances.
JULY 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Lands in Philly organization The Phillies have acquired Hicklen from the Royals.
Impact It's not clear what the Royals will be getting in return, but it's probably cash considerations or a player to be named later. Hicklen, 27, got a cup of coffee with Kansas City last season but has spent all of 2023 at Triple-A Omaha, posting a .789 OPS with eight home runs and 15 stolen bases in 61 games. He is not on the 40-man roster.
AUGUST 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Overcomes elbow injury Hicklen (elbow) has appeared in six games and has gone 3-for-18 with two doubles and a 3:8 BB:K since being activated from Triple-A Omaha's 7-day injured list April 25.
Impact Hicklen missed just under a month of game action for Omaha due to the right elbow strain he suffered at some point during the offseason. The 27-year-old outfielder received a brief cameo in the majors with Kansas City last season, but he no longer possesses a spot on the 40-man roster and will face an uphill battle to make it back to the big leagues.
