Dealing with hamstring injury
Davis was removed from Satuday's Cactus League game against the Angels due to left hamstring tightness, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Davis appeared to sustain the injury on a swing during his lone at-bat in the second inning, which prompted his removal from the game. He'll undergo additional tests to determine the severity of the injury, and while he was a longshot to make the Mariners' Opening Day roster, it does put Davis' availability for the start of the 2026 season in jeopardy.

Exits Saturday's game
Davis (undisclosed) was removed during the second inning of Saturday's Cactus League game against the Angles, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Davis appeared to sustain the injury during his lone plate appearance in the second inning. The nature and severity of the injury are not clear, but Davis will be evaluated by medical staff, and the Mariners should have an update over the next couple of days. Davis signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners in December, but the 26-year-old outfielder has yet to appear in a major-league game in his professional career.

Homers in spring debut
Davis went 1-for-1 with a three-run homer, two walks and a second run scored in Sunday's Cactus League matchup versus the Reds.
Impact
Davis capped a six-run ninth inning with his three-run shot off right-hander Irvin Machuca, extending Seattle's lead to 14-8. It was a strong day at the plate overall for the 26-year-old Davis, who reached base safely in all three of his at-bats. Still, the one-time top prospect is a long shot to make the Mariners' Opening Day roster, after joining the team as a non-roster invitee in December. However, Davis had a solid 2025 campaign with Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre, posting a .900 OPS with 12 homers across 36 games.

Signs NRI deal with Seattle
The Mariners signed Davis to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports.
Impact
Davis missed time with injuries again in 2025 in the Yankees organization, but he was productive when on the field, slashing .248/.324/.576 with 12 homers in 36 contests at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The former top prospect is likely headed back to the Triple-A level again to start 2026, but he will compete in spring training for a roster spot with the big club.

On shelf at Triple-A
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Davis on its 7-day injured list June 26 due to an unspecified injury.
Impact
A former top prospect in the Cubs organization who was the 2021 All-Star Futures Game MVP, Davis saw his star fade in recent seasons while he was slowed by several injuries. After being non-tendered by the Cubs over the winter, Davis connected with the Yankees on a minor-league deal and had seemed to restore some value upon getting cleared to join Double-A Somerset in late May. He quickly earned a promotion to Triple-A and had slashed .308/.415/.692 with nine home runs and two steals in 23 games between the two affiliates, but any momentum Davis might have made toward earning his first big-league call-up appears to have stalled. The 25-year-old exited a June 22 game with an undisclosed injury and was placed on the IL a few days later, with the Yankees having yet to provide further word on the severity of his latest setback on the health front.

Receives MiLB contract from Yankees
The Yankees signed Davis to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Aram Leighton of Just Baseball reports.
Impact
Davis is a former top prospect who has had terrible luck with injuries, as he hasn't played more than 71 games in any of the last three seasons. He's still just 25, so Davis would appear worthy of a dice roll on a minor-league deal. The outfielder slashed .214/.359/.469 with 11 home runs in 47 games at Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs organization in 2024.

Becomes free agent
Davis was non-tendered by the Cubs on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Impact
Davis was designated for assignment Tuesday to make room for top prospect Owen Caissie. Davis' standing within the organization took a hit due to a string of serious back injuries and he played in only 55 games in 2024. He'll still be only 25 during the 2025 season, so if he can remain on the field he could revitalize his career.

Designated for assignment
The Cubs designated Davis for assignment Tuesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Impact
Although Davis slashed .214/.359/.469 at Triple-A Iowa in 2024, various injuries limited him to just 55 minor-league games (47 in Triple-A, eight in High-A). His 40-man roster spot will now be handed to top prospect and fellow outfielder Owen Caissie.

Placed on MLB 60-day IL
The Cubs recalled Davis from Triple-A Iowa on Friday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a left ankle fracture, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Impact
Davis recently returned to action at Triple-A after missing two months with a back fracture, but his season will now end prematurely due to his fractured ankle. Placing him on the big-league 60-day IL opens a spot on the 40-man roster for Jimmy Herget, who was claimed off waivers from Atlanta on Friday and will report to Iowa.

Healthy again at Triple-A
Davis (back) has gone 4-for-27 with a double, three walks, three runs and one RBI in seven games for Triple-A Iowa since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Aug. 27.
Impact
Davis missed just over two and a half months with a back fracture but is finally healthy again heading as the International League season winds down. Over 166 plate appearances with Iowa this season, Davis is slashing .212/.361/.470 with 10 home runs and one stolen base.

Out with back fracture
Davis was placed on Triple-A Iowa's 7-day injured list Tuesday with a back fracture, Tommy Birch of Des Moines Register reports.
Impact
The 24-year-old is without a timeline for his return but won't be returning to the field anytime soon. Davis is hitting just .229 through 36 games for Iowa this season, though he's shown off his power and plate discipline with 10 home runs and a 19:31 BB:K.

Davis underwent core muscle surgery earlier this week and is out for at least six weeks, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The 23-year-old outfield prospect was placed on the injured list at Triple-A Iowa on June 9 after experiencing discomfort after a swing. Now, Davis will be sidelined until at least early August as he recovers from his procedure. Davis was slashing .197/.316/.299 with 20 RBI through 187 plate appearances prior to getting injured.
