Rangers Claiming Blaine Crim off Waivers Could Influence Trade Deadline Blaime Crim is back. The Texas Rangers claimed him off waivers from the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. But what does that mean to the future?

Claimed by Rangers The Rangers claimed Crim off waivers from the Rockies on Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Impact Crim was DFA'd by the Rockies on Wednesday, but he'll reclaim a 40-man roster spot while returning to the organization that drafted him back in 2019. The 28-year-old has spent the entire season in Triple-A, slashing .265/.339/.449 across 165 plate appearances. Carter Baumler (ribs) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

Scrubbed from 40-man roster The Rockies designated Crim for assignment Wednesday.

Impact The transaction frees up a 40-man roster spot for the addition of Keegan Thompson. Crim has slashed .265/.339/.449 with seven home runs in 36 games this season with Triple-A Albuquerque. There's a good chance the 28-year-old passes through waivers, and if that happens, he could stick around in the organization.

Activated, optioned to Triple-A The Rockies reinstated Crim (oblique) from the injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Impact Crim missed most of the Cactus League schedule due to a strained left oblique. He received the green light to begin playing in rehab games at Albuquerque on March 31, and he'll officially stay put in the minors now that he's been deemed fully healthy.

The 29-year-old made his MLB debut last season, appearing in 20 games with the Rangers and Rockies, and produced a .200/.270/.462 slash line with five home runs, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored and a 6:28 BB:K across 74 trips to the plate. Crim will likely open the season at Triple-A Albuquerque.

He'll make his Rockies debut if he gets into a game. Crim is expected to serve as the team's primary first baseman while Warming Bernabel (concussion) is sidelined.
