Impact Williamson took Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly yard in the sixth inning Sunday. The 25-year-old has seen sporadic playing time across Tampa Bay's infield in 2026, slashing an uninspiring .236/.307/.328 with two homers, 20 RBI, five stolen bases and 24 runs scored over 193 plate appearances in a part-time role.

Filling in for Walls on Sunday Williamson will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Angels.
Impact Williamson will draw his fifth start in six games, this time filling in for a resting Taylor Walls at shortstop. Each of Williamson's previous four starts came against left-handed pitching, and he still appears to be occupying the short side of a platoon with Richie Palacios at second base.
JUNE 14 • ROTOWIRE
Receiving nod at keystone Wednesday Williamson will start at second base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.
Impact Williamson suffered an injury scare back on May 29, when he was hit on the left hand by a pitch and needed to be removed from a game against the Angels. After X-rays returned negative, Williamson was back in the lineup a day later, and he's now drawn eight starts out of the middle infield in the Rays' last 12 games. Four of those starts have come against left-handed pitchers, and two of the starts against righties came while Taylor Walls was out of the lineup due to a hamstring injury, so the Rays may still be viewing Williamson largely as a short-side platoon player.

X-rays negative X-rays on Williamson's left hand came back negative following his removal from Friday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Williamson took a 98.6-mph sinker off his left hand in the sixth inning of Friday's contest, but he seemingly escaped the incident without any severe damage. Manager Kevin Cash added that the 25-year-old could play Saturday, though the Rays may err on the side of caution and give him a day off to recover.

Exits after HBP Williamson was removed from Friday's game against the Angels after getting hit on the hand by a pitch, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Williamson had been making his return from a back strain that sent him to the injured list last week, but he was pulled from Friday's contest immediately after taking a 98.6-mph sinker off his left hand in the sixth inning.
