Harold Castro - Notches roster spot Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed Sunday that Castro has secured a spot on the Opening Day roster, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact Castro is expected to see most of his work this season as a backup infielder, though his experience at all three outfield spots gives him an added layer of versatility. When given regular playing time, Castro has shown the ability to hit for contact at a high rate (.291 lifetime average, 22.2 percent strikeout rate), but a lack of power and speed limits his fantasy intrigue.

MLB looking at electronic system for calling pitches

Major League Baseball is stepping up its experimentation with an electronic communication channel for calling pitches

Adley Rutschman - Increasing activities Rutschman (triceps) has progressed to hitting off a tee from both sides of the plate in addition to doing some light throwing and increasing his receiving drills at catcher, Roch K...
Impact Though Rutschman isn't quite fully involved in team workouts and looks on track to miss the start of the regular season due to a right triceps strain, the 24-year-old at least appears to be trending toward an abbreviated absence. Because he's not already on the 40-man roster, the Orioles won't have to place Rutschman on the injured list, so he'll presumably be reassigned to Triple-A Norfolk once he's deemed ready from game action. If Rutschman quickly returns to top form at the plate and behind the dish, an early-season call-up to the big leagues could still be in the forecast.

Eduardo Rodríguez - Looks good in final spring start Rodriguez allowed two runs on three hits across five innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles. He walked one and struck out eight.
Impact Making his final tune-up start before his Opening Day nod Friday, Rodriguez looked sharp and brought his spring ERA down to 3.71. He also recorded 19 strikeouts across 17 Grapefruit League innings. The lefty should be a good source of strikeouts all season, and he may see improvements in ERA and WHIP working in a more pitcher-friendly home ballpark. With Boston last season, Rodriguez posted a 4.74 ERA and 1.39 WHIP, both of which were career worsts. However, he also won 13 games and struck out 185 batters across 157.2 innings.

DJ Stewart - Expected back Monday Stewart (hand) is expected to be included in the lineup Monday for the Orioles' Grapefruit League game against the Pirates, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Stewart was expected to make his return to the starting nine at some point this weekend, but the Orioles instead opted to have him take at-bats against some of the organization's minor-league pitchers Sunday. Assuming his bruised left hand responds well to the activity, Stewart should return to big-league camp Monday and slot back into the lineup for the first time since March 23. Stewart still has a shot at making the Orioles' Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.

Drew Hutchison - Pushing for bullpen spot Hutchison is one of several pitchers still competing to fill out the back end of Detroit's bullpen to begin the regular season, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact Hutchison spent most of last season with Triple-A Toledo, though he could break camp in the majors this year. Woodbery notes that six pitchers (Hutchison, Chase Anderson, Jacob Barnes, Jason Foley, Rony Garcia and Will Vest) are likely competing for five roster spots. Even if Hutchison has a larger MLB role in 2022, he likely won't be a huge fantasy factor.

Chase Anderson - Fighting for bullpen spot Anderson is one of several pitchers still competing to fill out the back end of Detroit's bullpen to begin the regular season, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact Woodbery notes that six pitchers (Anderson, Jacob Barnes, Jason Foley, Rony Garcia, Will Vest and Drew Hutchison) are likely competing for five roster spots. Anderson has largely been a starter during his MLB career, but it appears that he won't be in the rotation to begin the year for the Tigers, so he'll likely need to make the team as a long reliever.
