Brandon Belt - Takes live batting practice Belt (knee) took live batting practice Friday in Blue Jays camp, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
Impact Belt has yet to appear in a Grapefruit League game this spring as he completes his recovery from September knee surgery, but the restraints could come off as soon as this weekend. The 34-year-old joined the Jays on a one-year, $9.3 million contract in January and is expected to be a regular option at DH while occasionally spelling Vladimir Guerrero at first base.

Mitch White - Throws live BP White (shoulder) threw a successful round of live batting practice Friday, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
Impact Longley writes that White looked "strong" during the live BP, which took place at the Blue Jays' player development complex. With his offseason shoulder impingement now in the rearview, the 28-year-old should soon get into Grapefruit League games as he looks to state a case for the final spot in Toronto's season-opening starting rotation. Yusei Kikuchi is the clear leader in that competition as things stand right now.

Cavan Biggio - Launches first spring homer Biggio went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's split-squad game against Atlanta.
Impact Getting the start at second base and hitting second, Biggio turned on an inside pitch from Spencer Strider in the third inning and drove it over the wall in right field. Biggio has gone 8-for-22 with a homer and a steal through eight Grapefruit League appearances, and the 27-year-old could see consistent playing time in a utility role this season for the Blue Jays. With a .213/.320/.353 slash line over the last two seasons, however, his primary fantasy value could lie in his position flex rather than his performance at the plate.

George Springer - Clubs first spring homer Springer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's split-squad game against Atlanta.
Impact The veteran outfielder took Bryce Elder deep in the seventh inning for his first homer of the spring. Springer has gone 4-for-18 with a double and Thursday's home run through six Grapefruit League appearances as he gears up for his third season with Toronto after amassing a .266/.346/.502 slash line through his first 211 games with the club.

Kevin Gausman - Shuts down Atlanta Gausman gave up two hits and struck out two over 3.2 scoreless innings in Thursday's split-squad game against Atlanta.
Impact The veteran righty was efficient, tossing 32 of 48 pitches for strikes against a lineup of bench players and minor leaguers. Gausman hasn't seemed to have much trouble adjusting his mechanics in response to MLB's new balk crackdown, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings over two spring starts with a 5:1 K:BB as he builds up ahead of Opening Day.

Max Fried - Blanks Team Puerto Rico Fried gave up two hits over four scoreless innings while striking out five in Thursday's exhibition game against Team Puerto Rico.
Impact Facing a lineup that featured Francisco Lindor in the leadoff spot and big-league bats throughout the lineup, Fried carved up the opposition without much trouble. Including two Grapefruit League starts, the southpaw has yet to allow a run over nine innings with a composite 14:2 K:BB this spring, and he appears to be just about ready for Opening day.
