Re-ups with Korean club The Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization re-signed Jurado to a one-year, $1.6 million contract Tuesday, Jee-ho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.

Impact Jurado has spent each of the last three seasons overseas and has become one of the best pitchers in the KBO, having collected a 2.60 ERA and 142:36 K:BB over 197.1 innings for the Lions in 2025. The 29-year-old last saw action at the big-league level in 2020.

Staying in Korea Jurado has re-signed with the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization, Jee-ho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.

Impact It seems likely that Jurado drew some interest from major-league clubs after he posted a 2.65 ERA and 147:41 over 183.2 innings for the Heroes in 2023. However, Kiwoom gave him $1.2 million guaranteed to stick around, a salary he surely wasn't getting in the states. The 27-year-old last pitched in the big leagues in 2020.

Impact He made just one appearance for the Mets last season and has never posted an ERA under 5.50 across three MLB seasons, albeit in very small samples. Jurado may need to settle for a minor-league deal on the open market.

Impact Jurado pitched poorly in his Mets debut Tuesday against the Orioles, giving up five runs on nine hits while striking out just two batters in four innings of work. He'll be removed from the roster as the Mets make room for their trade-deadline acquisitions.

Impact Jurado gave up all five of his earned runs in the first two innings, surrendering a three-run homer in the first frame. He did manage to settle in from there, retiring six of the last eight batters he faced. The outing was his debut with the Mets, and he was needed as a starter after the Mets played a doubleheader Sunday against the Yankees. It's unclear how the team will utilize him going forward.

Impact Jurado joined the Mets via trade in early August and will make his debut with the team Tuesday. The right-hander carries a 5.85 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 177 innings in the majors, so he doesn't carry much fantasy upside heading into his first appearance with the Mets.

With a 5.85 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 13.2 percent strikeout rate in 177 career major-league innings, expectations should be low for the 24-year-old.
