Impact Nunez had major control issues Thursday and only tossed 13 of his 24 pitches for strikes. Fittingly, he gave up the decisive run of the game on a bases-loaded walk. Nunez continues to struggle with control, and the numbers back that up, as he's been far from a reliable option out of the Orioles' pen. In 11.1 innings since the beginning of May, Nunez has an 8.74 ERA and a 12:8 K:BB while allowing 11 runs on 11 hits.

Impact While Rico Garcia was getting the initial saves after Ryan Helsley (elbow) was shelved May 1, Garcia was deployed in the sixth inning of this one and recorded the final two outs to preserve a 6-4 lead. Nunez has handled two save opportunities since Garcia was last put in that position, so it appears manager Craig Albernaz is willing to mix and match at the end of games. On the season, Nunez has a 4.94 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB across 23.2 innings.

Garcia has been dominant this season and remains Baltimore's primary ninth-inning option while Helsley is sidelined, but it appears manager Craig Albernaz is open to using Garcia earlier if the situation calls for it, which makes Nunez a candidate for occasional save chances.
