Promoted to majors The Giants selected Knizner's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Knizner inked a minor-league deal a couple weeks ago and has been added to the big-league roster after going 11-for-30 in eight games with Sacramento. He'll take over backup catcher duties behind Patrick Bailey.

Impact Knizner has been phenomenal at Triple-A Rochester this season, slashing .382/.516/.500 with 11 RBI and 10 runs scored across 91 plate appearances. The 30-year-old backstop had the ability to opt out of his minor-league deal this weekend, so he'll now enter free agency and presumably pursue a major-league contract, given how well he's done in the minors.

Starting 2025 in Triple-A The Nationals reassigned Knizner to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.

Impact Knizner landed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Jan. 17. That contract included an invitation to spring training, though he struggled to a .120/.214/.120 slash line across 28 plate appearances. Knizner will begin the 2025 regular season in Triple-A, but he could get a call-up to the majors if either of Keibert Ruiz or Riley Adams were to miss time.

Impact Knizner spent the majority of last season with the Rangers, slashing just .167/.183/.211 over 93 plate appearances before being DFA'd in August. He posted a .743 OPS with the Diamondbacks' Triple-A affiliate to close the season and will likely report to Triple-A Rochester to begin the 2025 campaign.
