Resumes baseball activities
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Friday that Gimenez (ankle) has resumed hitting in the batting cage and fielding grounders on his knees, MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gimenez hasn't yet been cleared to run or field grounders in an upright position while he recovers from a left ankle sprain, but he's been able to resume baseball activities on some level coming out of the All-Star break. The infielder should have a chance at returning from the 10-day injured list before the end of July, though he still has a few hurdles to clear in the recovery process.

Getting fitted for walking boot
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Sunday that Gimenez (ankle) will be confined to a walking boot for the next 5-to-7 days before being re-evaluated, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet...
Impact
Gimenez was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left ankle sprain that he suffered in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Angels. The Blue Jays aren't yet offering up a timeline for Gimenez's return, but if he's able to quickly resume baseball activities once he sheds the boot, he could have a chance at coming off the IL when the team opens its post-All-Star-break schedule July 18 versus the Giants. Leo Jimenez filled in for Gimenez at second base in Sunday's 3-2 victory in the series finale with the Angels, but Will Wagner and Davis Schneider could end up being the main winners from a playing-time standpoint for the duration of Gimenez's absence.

Out with ankle sprain
The Blue Jays placed Gimenez on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to July 5, due to a left ankle sprain.
Impact
The second baseman initially suffered the ankle injury Wednesday against the Yankees and was sent for an MRI after aggravating the injury Friday versus the Angels. The severity of the sprain has yet to be disclosed, but Gimenez will be sidelined through the All-Star break, at minimum. Joey Loperfido was called up from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the open roster spot, but it'll likely be Davis Schneider, Will Wagner and/or Leo Jimenez who see a bump in playing time with Gimenez sidelined.

Not in lineup after hurting ankle
Gimenez (ankle) isn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the Angels.
Impact
Gimenez initially hurt his ankle Wednesday against the Yankees and missed one game before returning to action Friday. However, he was removed from that contest after apparently tweaking the injury on the basepaths, and he's now being held out Saturday. Gimenez underwent an MRI following Friday's game, but results of the imaging haven't yet been shared. With Gimenez out of action Saturday, Davis Schneider is starting at second base.

Undergoes MRI, results pending
The Blue Jays sent Gimenez for an MRI on his ankle after Friday's win over the Angels, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca results.
Impact
Gimenez jammed his ankle Wednesday and appeared to aggravate the injury Friday while going from first to third on a George Springer single. The results of his MRI have not been disclosed, but it sounds like another trip to the injured list is a possibility for Gimenez, who previously missed time this season with a quad issue. Leo Jimenez could see an uptick in playing time if Gimenez is forced to the IL.
