INJURIES

Picks up fourth win Pallante (4-3) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Tuesday.
Impact Pallante has alternated wins and losses over his last six outings. He was able to get by with less than his best work Tuesday, as he threw 51 of 85 pitches for strikes before turning things over to the bullpen. This was the first time since April 6 that he didn't allow a home run. Pallante is at a 4.46 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 33:19 K:BB through 42.1 innings over eight starts this season. He is projected for a home start versus the Royals his next time out.

Ambushed by Brewers Pallante (3-3) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings as the Cardinals fell 6-2 to the Brewers. He struck out three.
Impact Four of the runs off Pallante crossed the plate in the first inning, including a three-run homer by Andrew Vaughn, and while the right-hander settled down after that and hung around for 104 pitches (74 strikes), the St. Louis offense didn't get on the board until the eighth. Pallante has given the Cards at least five innings in all seven of his starts to begin the season, but his results have been somewhat erratic. He'll take a 4.34 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 29:16 K:BB through 37.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week against the A's.

MIL-STL postponed Tuesday Pallante and the Cardinals won't face the Brewers on Tuesday, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Impact Tuesday's game will be made up during a doubleheader July 7; meanwhile, Pallante's next start may be pushed back to Wednesday. The 27-year-old righty has been pitching well as of late, turning in a 2.76 ERA and 1.10 WHIP alongside a 19:6 K:BB over 16.1 innings across his last three starts.

Fans six in six strong innings Pallante (3-2) tallied the win Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing one run on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out six.
Impact Pallante delivered perhaps his finest effort of the season so far. The right-hander pitched a season-high six frames, issued no walks for the first time this year and also turned in his third start of the campaign with at least five innings while yielding one run or zero. Pallante has put together a respectable 3.73 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 26:14 K:BB over 31.1 frames, but he's next lined up for a tough assignment against the Brewers.

Racks up eight strikeouts in loss Pallante (2-2) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out eight over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Mariners on Friday.
Impact Pallante had a fine performance, but the solo home run he gave up to Josh Naylor in the sixth inning ended up being the difference. The eight strikeouts were a season high for Pallante, but he's also walked at least three batters in four of his five starts, and he's yet to complete six frames in any outing this year. That puts him at a 4.26 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB through 25.1 innings. If Pallante keeps limiting damage, he's a fine back-end starter, but that will be tough to do if the walk rate remains at a lofty 5.0 BB/9. The right-hander's next start is projected to be on the road in Pittsburgh.

Strikes out five in win Pallante (2-1) earned the win against the Astros on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts over five innings.
Impact Pallante allowed a run in the first inning before rebounding with four scoreless frames despite throwing just 48 of 87 pitches for strikes. The 27-year-old has logged exactly five frames in each of his first four starts, holding opponents to two earned runs or fewer three times with one seven-run (six earned) clunker. He owns a 4.05 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 12:11 K:BB across 20 innings and lines up for a home matchup against the Mariners next weekend.

Hit hard in loss to Boston Pallante (1-1) took the loss Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and one walk with two strikeouts across five innings.
Impact The entire afternoon was a struggle for Pallante, who was hit early and often in this one. Lacking swing-and-miss stuff, Pallante also struggled a bit with his command, as he hit a pair of batters across the first two innings. He also served up a two-run homer to Willson Contreras in the top of the first. Pallante then loaded the bases in the fourth with two singles and a walk before Jarren Duran hit a bases-clearing double. Pallante now owns a 5.40 ERA and 7:8 K:BB across 15 innings. His next start is tentatively lined up for Saturday in Houston.

Lacks control in no-decision Pallante didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out two.
Impact After throwing five scoreless innings against the Mets in his season debut, Pallante ran into some tougher sledding Monday. While he did hold the Nationals to just three knocks, the right-hander walked at least four batters for the ninth time in his career. The 27-year-old right-hander boasts a 1.80 ERA through 10 innings so far, but his 5:7 K:BB is a far greater concern heading into his next scheduled outing versus the Red Sox.
