Pallante fired five scoreless frames before running into trouble in the sixth inning, allowing two runs before being pulled, while reliever Ryne Stanek allowed an inherited runner to score. Over his past five starts, Pallante has posted a 4.71 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB across 28.2 innings. Overall, the right-hander owns a 10-6 record with a 4.02 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 75:31 K:BB through 105.1 innings (19 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Reds.

Stumbles in final first-half start
Pallante (10-6) took the loss against Milwaukee on Thursday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two batters over five innings.
Impact
Pallante entered Thursday with a 2.68 ERA and five wins over his previous six starts, but it was pretty clear early in the outing that he wasn't going to be able to continue that roll. Milwaukee tagged him for two runs on three singles in the second inning, then struck for four runs in the third, with the big blow being a Jake Bauers three-run homer. Pallante didn't give up any more runs after that long ball, but the damage was more than enough to send him to defeat. It's been a decent first half for the right-hander despite Thursday's loss; he already has a career-high 10 victories to go along with a 3.96 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 72:29 K:BB over 100 innings spanning 18 starts.

Cruises to win No. 10
Pallante (10-5) picked up the win Friday, allowing five hits and a walk over 5.2 scoreless innings in a 17-1 rout of the Cubs. He struck out two.
Impact
The Cardinals backed Pallante by scoring multiple runs in five straight innings beginning in the second frame as the right-hander breezed through his afternoon, getting lifted after 102 pitches (61 strikes) and coming one out shy of his seventh quality start of the season. Pallante has given up two runs or fewer in five of six starts since the beginning of June, posting a 2.68 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 24:6 K:BB over 37 innings during that stretch, and his 10 wins ties him for first among all big-league starting pitchers this season with Chase Burns, Cristopher Sanchez and Justin Wrobleski. Pallante will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Brewers.

Surrenders 11 hits in defeat
Pallante (9-5) took the loss against Miami on Saturday, allowing five runs on 11 hits and one walk while striking out four batters over 6.2 innings.
Impact
The 11 knocks allowed by Pallante marked a season-worst total, though only two of those hits -- both doubles -- went for extra bases. The right-hander was unable to navigate around the steady flow of traffic, as Miami scored in four of the seven innings during which he pitched. It wasn't all bad news for Pallante though, as he gave St. Louis 6.2 frames, and he's now completed at least six innings in four straight starts. Pallante entered Saturday having logged five wins, a 2.68 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP across his previous seven starts, so the setback against the red-hot Marlins shouldn't impact his strong grip on a rotation spot. He's lined up to make his next start on the road against the Cubs.

Logs six innings in ninth win
Pallante (9-4) earned the win Monday, allowing one run on six hits and no walks over six innings against Arizona. He struck out two.
Impact
Pallante's winning ways continued Monday, as he kept the Arizona offense quiet to earn his fourth straight victory. His two strikeouts matched a season low, though the right-hander has never relied on swing-and-miss stuff and instead thrives by generating groundballs. The 27-year-old owns a 3.59 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 64:25 K:BB across 82.2 innings (15 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to face Miami on Saturday.

Posts quality start, fans six
Pallante (8-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Padres after allowing two runs on four hits across seven innings. He struck out six.
Impact
The six punchouts were Pallante's best output in that category since he fanned seven across 6.2 innings against the Royals on May 17. He continues to provide length and strong performances when his name has been called upon of late. He's given up two or fewer earned runs in five of his last six starts, a stretch in which he's posted a 2.88 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 across 34.1 innings. He's tabbed to make his next start Monday at home against the Diamondbacks.

Continues to provide length
Pallante (7-4) earned the win Wednesday against the Mets, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Pallante kept the Mets off balance throughout the evening, inducing an impressive nine groundouts. The 27-year-old right-hander continues to be a strong source of length in the Cardinals' rotation, working at least five innings in all but one of his 13 starts so far. Pallante will try to further improve on a quality 3.88 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 56:25 K:BB over 69.2 frames in his next scheduled outing against the Padres.
