Struggles versus Giants
Pallante allowed five runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out four over 2.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants.
Impact
This was Pallante's shortest outing since his 1.2-inning appearance against the Cubs on Aug. 9, though he has had plenty of struggles in that span. The right-hander was able to avoid a loss for just the second time in his last 10 starts as the Cardinals rallied for a comeback in the late innings. Pallante is now at a 5.31 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 111:62 K:BB through 162.2 innings over 31 starts this season, and he is not projected to make another appearance in 2025.

Impact
It's the eighth loss for Pallante in his last nine starts -- he's struggled to a 7.12 ERA in that span. Overall, the right-hander sports a 5.29 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP and 107 strikeouts through 30 starts (160 innings) this season. Pallante will look for better results his next time out, tentatively scheduled for next week in San Francisco.

Ineffective in 14th loss
Pallante (6-14) took the loss Friday against the Brewers, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and four walks in five innings. He failed to record a strikeout.
Impact
The walks came back to haunt Pallante, who issued at least three of them for the fourth time in his last six starts. Although he's thrown at least five innings in six consecutive outings, the right-hander has permitted at least four runs in four of them. Pallante has a lackluster 5.34 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 104:57 K:BB across 155 innings in 2025, and he's lined up to face the division-rival Reds next week.

Delivers quality start Saturday
Pallante didn't factor into the decision against the Giants on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three over six innings.
Impact
Pallante turned in his first quality start since July 28, keeping San Francisco in check outside of a pair of runs in the fourth inning. The right-hander has struggled with consistency in the second half, including a five-start stretch in August in which he posted a 9.82 ERA and 2.14 WHIP, but he showed improved command and efficiency Saturday by completing six innings for just the second time in his last eight outings. Pallante will take a 5.28 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 104:53 K:BB over 150 innings into Milwaukee for his next scheduled start.

Remaining in rotation
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Pallante will make his next scheduled start Sunday in Cincinnati, John Denton of MLB.comreports.
Impact
Pallante has posted an 8.26 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 32:17 K:BB over 44.2 innings covering his last nine starts, but the Cardinals believe his underlying metrics point to better success moving forward and want the hurler work through his issues in the big-league rotation. The right-hander should not be used in fantasy leagues until he shows some improvement, particularly with a start at Great American Ball Park looming this weekend.
