Recalled Saturday Lange was recalled from the taxi squad prior to Saturday's game in Cleveland.

Impact Julio Teheran landed on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, so Lange joins the bullpen in a corresponding move. It may be a short stay with the big club, as Lange could be sent to the alternate site whenever the Tigers promote Teheran's replacement in the rotation.

Sent to Triple-A The Tigers optioned Lange to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Impact Lange held opposing hitters to a .167 average and struck out three over 3.1 innings this spring, but it wasn't enough for him to remain in the competition for a spot in Detroit's Opening Day bullpen. The 25-year-old will be a candidate to make his MLB debut later in 2021.

Impact Lange is one of several young Detroit arms who will be vying for one of the final bullpen spots. The 25-year-old, who came to the Tigers in the Nicholas Castellanos trade, has yet to appear above the Double-A level. He will likely begin the 2021 campaign with Triple-A Toledo and could get a shot in the majors at some point during the season.
