Alec Marsh - MLB News, Rumors, & Updates

Grabs NRI pact from White Sox The White Sox signed Marsh (shoulder) to a minor-league contract Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. The deal includes an invitation to spring training.

Impact Marsh has not pitched since 2024 due to shoulder issues and is still working his way back from October 2025 labrum surgery. It's unclear what kind of limitations he might have during spring training, but Marsh could provide viable rotation depth in 2027 if he can bounce back from a health perspective. The 28-year-old logged a 4.53 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 123:39 K:BB over 129 innings for the Royals in 2024.

2 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE

Outrighted to Triple-A The Royals outrighted Marsh (shoulder) to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Impact Marsh has missed two consecutive seasons due to shoulder problems and is still rehabbing from November 2025 labrum surgery. He could be ready by Opening Day, though Marsh is no longer on the 40-man roster and it's unclear how his shoulder will bounce back post-surgery.

OCTOBER 23 • ROTOWIRE

Officially placed on IL The Royals placed Marsh (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Impact Marsh missed all of 2025 due to shoulder problems, and after undergoing surgery in November to address the issue, he's expected to miss the entire 2026 campaign as well. His move to the 60-day IL clears space on the 40-man roster for Mitch Spence, whom the Royals acquired in a trade with the Athletics on Thursday.

FEBRUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE

Had labral surgery in October Marsh underwent surgery in October to repair a labral tear in his right shoulder, MLB.com reports.

Impact Marsh missed the entire 2025 season with shoulder issues and it was concluded last month that surgery was required. He is expected to need around a year to recover, so the right-hander is unlikely to be ready to pitch in a big-league game again until 2027. Marsh posted a 4.53 ERA and 123:39 K:BB over 129 innings for Kansas City in 2024.
