INJURIES

Allows two runs Tuesday Houser allowed two earned runs on five hits, including a home run, and one walk while striking out one in 5.1 relief innings during Tuesday's 8-2 loss to Arizona.
Impact Landen Roupp surrendered six earned runs in just 2.2 innings, opening the door for Houser to cover the rest of the game. The 33-year-old right-hander was moved to the bullpen after drawing his last start June 16. He's made two relief appearances since then, during which he has allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two in 7.2 innings. Overall, he owns a 5.38 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 50:26 K:BB in 73.2 innings this season.

Relegated to bullpen Manager Tony Vitello said Saturday that Houser will pitch out of the bullpen going forward, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Houser will exit the rotation after putting up a 7.00 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over his last five starts and failing to complete the fifth inning in any of them, highlighted by a one-inning performance during his last time on the mound. Tyler Mahle (hamstring) is set to return from the injured list Wednesday to fill the vacant rotation spot; meanwhile, Houser will presumably take on a multi-inning role out of the pen. It's unclear whether he could return to the rotation if his performance improves.

Stuck with sixth loss Houser (2-6) allowed three runs on four hits and a hit batsman while striking out six and walking none over 4.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Nationals.
Impact Houser has failed to complete five innings in each of his last four appearances, giving up 13 runs (12 earned) across 17 innings in that span. He's also posted a 20:5 K:BB during that stretch, which is a noticeable improvement in control despite the otherwise poor performances. Overall, the veteran right-hander has a 5.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 46:24 K:BB through 65 innings across 13 starts. He'll be tough to trust in fantasy if he continues to fall short of pitching deep enough to have a chance at wins. His next start is projected to be a tough one on the road versus Atlanta.

Up and down in no-decision Houser took a no-decision Thursday against the Brewers, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out five.
Impact Houser bookended his outing poorly, giving up one earned run in the first and fifth frames before his day ended, but a fifth-inning Willy Adames throwing error at least kept one earned run off the hurler's ledger. The 33-year-old right-hander hasn't been all that effective at missing bats in 2026, fanning fewer than six in all 12 of his starts, and he also remains without a scoreless start. Houser will take a rough 5.49 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 40:24 K:BB over 60.2 innings into his next scheduled appearance against an upstart Nationals lineup.

Dinged for eight hits in defeat Houser (2-5) took the loss against Colorado on Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 3.2 innings.
Impact Houser had a rough first inning, giving up two runs on two singles, two walks and a hit batsman. He recovered to record a 1-2-3 second, but the Rockies got to him for six more hits and two more runs before he was pulled with two outs in the fourth frame. Of the eight hits Houser allowed, seven were singles, but the one extra-base knock was a two-run homer off the bat of Jake McCarthy. Houser won back-to-back starts in mid-May but over his subsequent two outings he's given up seven runs on 15 hits over just 8.1 innings. His next start is lined up to be a road matchup in Milwaukee.

Can't take advantage of run support Houser didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 10-3 win over the White Sox, giving up three runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
Impact The veteran right-hander got handed a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning, but Houser immediately gave it right back in the top of the fifth and got the hook after 79 pitches (55 strikes), taking him out of the equation for the win when the Giants broke the game open in the bottom of the frame. Houser has allowed three runs or fewer in five straight starts, posting a 3.33 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB over 27 innings during that stretch. He'll look to keep that momentum going in his next outing, which is set to come on the road next weekend in Colorado.

Completes six frames in second win Houser (2-4) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and five walks over six innings against the Athletics. He struck out three.
Impact Houser struggled at times to find the zone, issuing a season-high five walks, but he limited the damage and completed six innings for the third time this season en route to his second win. The right-hander's overall numbers -- a 5.25 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with a 26:19 K:BB across 48 innings (nine starts) -- are far from stellar, though he has been more effective of late, allowing two or fewer runs in each of his past three outings. Houser is tentatively slated to make his next start at home Saturday against the White Sox.

Snags first win Houser (1-4) allowed two runs on three hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out four over 5.2 innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Dodgers.
Impact Houser has shown improvement in his last three starts, giving up a total of seven runs (six earned) over 16.1 innings in that span. He was rewarded for the effort Tuesday as the Giants got the better of their rivals, despite the right-hander issuing a season-high three walks. He's got a ways to go to be trusted in fantasy, as Houser has a 5.79 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 23:14 K:BB through 42 innings over eight starts this season. His next start is projected to be over the weekend on the road versus the Athletics.
