Activated from injured list Hicks (hamstring) was activated from the injured list Monday.
Impact A hamstring injury cost Hicks the last three weeks of action, but after playing in a pair of rehab games he is ready to return to action. The Orioles have not yet release their lineup for Monday's contest, so it remains to be seen if Hicks will be in it. However, he figures to reclaim a role in Baltimore's outfield.
AUGUST 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Targeting return next week Hicks (hamstring) will report to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact Hicks said he expects to remain with Norfolk through the weekend to play two games during its series in Jacksonville before likely coming off the 10-day injured list ahead of the Orioles' series opener in San Diego on Monday. Cedric Mullins (groin) appears on track to narrowly beat Hicks back from the IL, so Hicks may have to settle for the fourth outfielder role once he's activated.
AUGUST 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Runs bases Tuesday Hicks (hamstring) ran the bases Tuesday without issue, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Impact Hicks could soon head out on a minor-league rehab assignment and should be able to return to the Orioles' active roster sometime next week. The veteran outfielder has been on the shelf since July 25 because of a left hamstring strain.
AUGUST 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Due back in mid-August Hicks (hamstring) is expected back in the next 10-14 days, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Impact It was initially reported that Hicks expected a minimum length stay on the 10-day injured list, but this news pushes his ETA back about a week. Once healthy, Hicks should assume a part-time role in what could be a pretty crowded outfield, as Cedric Mullins (groin) is also due back in 10-14 days.

Expects minimum IL stay Hicks (hamstring) said Tuesday that he expects to be activated follow a minimum stay on the 10-day injured list, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Hicks tweaked his left hamstring on a dive in Monday's win over the Phillies and was placed on the IL earlier Tuesday. It sounds like it was mostly a precautionary move and the outfielder will have a good shot to be back when first eligible on August 4.
JULY 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Heads to IL with strained hamstring Hicks was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left hamstring strain.
Impact The Orioles had labeled the injury which forced Hicks from Monday's game in Philadelphia as a hamstring cramp, but evidently subsequent testing revealed a strain. Hicks will be eligible for activation on August 4, although it's not clear at this point whether he will be ready at that time.
JULY 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with hamstring cramp Hicks left Monday's game against the Phillies with a left hamstring cramp, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact This is positive news for the Orioles, who are already without the services of Cedric Mullins (groin). Hicks will likely be re-evaluated Tuesday morning, but given the nature of the injury, he should be ready to roll in the near future.
JULY 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Exits with injury Hicks left Monday's game against the Phillies due to an undisclosed injury, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Hicks made an awkward diving catch in the outfield during the bottom of the third inning and was forced to leave the contest immediately after. He'll be considered day-to-day until more information on his injury comes to light. Colton Cowser replaced Hicks in center field.
JULY 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Day off Friday Hicks is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Hicks will get a breather after he went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two strikeouts in the series opener Thursday. Colton Cowser will take over in center field and bat seventh against Tampa Bay.
JULY 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Could serve as Mullins replacement Hicks will start in center field and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact Hicks will be getting his third consecutive start in center in place of Cedric Mullins (adductor), who was officially moved to the 10-day injured list. Though recently promoted prospect Colton Cowser is capable of manning center, he's hitting just .111 through his first 27 big-league at-bats and may have to settle for part-time duties until his production warrants more playing time. With that in mind, Hicks could end up being the primary replacement for Mullins, given how well he's produced at the plate since signing with Baltimore in late May. Over his first 38 games with Baltimore, Hicks is slashing .263/.366/.474 with six home runs and three stolen bases.
JULY 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Back in lineup Monday Hicks (back) is starting in center field and batting sixth Monday versus the Dodgers, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Impact Hicks will return to the lineup after missing Sunday's 5-4 win over the Marlins with lower-back soreness. He'll replace Cedric Mullins in center field as Mullins misses a second straight contest with a right quadriceps injury.
JULY 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Battling back soreness Hicks was taken out of Sunday's lineup Sunday due to lower back soreness, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact Manager Brandon Hyde said Hicks was scratched from the lineup as a precaution, so it doesn't seem like Hicks' injury is too severe. He should be considered day-to-day going forward.
JULY 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Scratched from lineup Hicks was scratched from the Orioles' lineup ahead of Sunday's game against Miami.
Impact It's unclear why Hicks was taken out of the lineup, but the Orioles will likely provide an update relatively soon. In the meantime, Colton Cowser will slide to center field to cover for Hicks while Austin Hays enters in left field and bats fourth.
JULY 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Pops homer Sunday Hicks went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Sunday's 15-2 win over the Twins.
Impact Hicks was out of the starting lineup for a couple of days with Achilles soreness before returning Saturday. He rested his legs as the designated hitter Sunday and provided a blast to cap off a seven-run fifth inning for the Orioles. Hicks has hit .263 with six of his seven homers and 17 of his 22 RBI since joining the Orioles as a free agent following his release from the Yankees in late May. Despite the solid results, he'll have to stay sharp to maintain his playing time over top prospect Colton Cowser.
JULY 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to lineup Hicks (Achilles) will bat sixth and play center field Saturday against the Twins.
Impact Hicks was scratched from the lineup Thursday due to Achilles soreness, but he made an appearance off the bench Friday. He'll be involved from the start Saturday against the team that drafted him 14th overall back in 2008.
JULY 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with Achilles soreness Hicks was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Yankees with left Achilles soreness, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Impact There are no further details about the injury, though there is no indication a stint on the injured list will be required. Hicks could return to the lineup as early as Friday against the Twins.
JULY 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Scratched from lineup Hicks was scratched from the Orioles' lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact It's unclear why Hicks was removed from Thursday's lineup, but the Orioles should provide reasoning relatively soon. In the meantime, Colton Cowser will slide over to center field, and Adam Frazier will start in left field while batting eighth.
JULY 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Homers versus former team Hicks went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees.
Impact While the result didn't go the Orioles' way, Hicks was able to get a little revenge against his old team. The outfielder has hit a bit of a rough patch since starting hot with Baltimore -- he's batting just .147 with two homers and three RBI over his last 11 games. For the season, he's slashing .231/.330/.391 with six long balls, 18 RBI, 26 runs scored and three stolen bases over 179 plate appearances. While his playing time has been steady so far, the impending arrival of top prospect Colton Cowser could mean a reduced role for Hicks in the near term.
