Loses steam over weekend in Memphis Hovland finished in a five-way share for 19th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship following a two-over 72 final round.
Impact Hovland used a bogey-free, six-under 64 second round to enter the weekend near the top of the leaderboard and within striking distance of Scottie Scheffler. However, Hovland was unable to carry that momentum over the last two days, carding back-to-back rounds of 72, barely staying in the top-20. He finished the tournament third in both GIR and birdies, as well as ninth in SG: Approach and 17th in SG: Around, though he lost 1.85 strokes off the tee, which ranked 55th out of 69 players. Hovland enters the BMW Championship 22nd in the FedExCup Standings, putting him in good position to earn a spot at the TOUR Championship in two weeks.

MC after Friday 74 at Birkdale Hovland missed the cut by three strokes at The Open Championship following a four-over 74 in the second round.
Impact Hovland posted an even-par 70 in the opening round and had little room for error with the cut line set at one-over. He proceeded to go five-over in the first 10 holes of the second round, including a four-over stretch from holes four to six with a double bogey on the fifth. It was the fourth missed cut of the season for Hovland, but three of those MC's have been in each of the last three majors of 2026. He ranked 33rd in SG: Approach but also ranked 120th in SG: Putting, 137th in SG: Around and 152nd in SG: Off-the-Tee in a 155-man field. Hovland is not listed in the field for the 3M Open next week.

Ascends to T13 after Sunday 64 Hovland carded a six-under 64 in the final round of the Genesis Scottish Open to finish tied with Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood and Wyndham Clark for 13th.
Impact Hovland barely made the two-under cut line after rounds of 68-70, but he found his form in the final round, jumping from 50th to T13 on the leaderboard after carding seven birdies to just one bogey. He ranked 61st out of the 71 players who made the cut in SG: Putting for the tournament, but Hovland gained 2.67 strokes in that category in the final round alone, which was third-best in the field for the day. Hovland finished the Scottish Open seventh in SG: Off-the-Tee, ninth in SG: Approach, T12 in driving accuracy and in the top-25 in birdies, driving distance, GIR and SG: Around. Up next is The Open Championship, where he's made the cut in four of five prior outings, including T63 last year at Royal Portrush and T4 in 2022 at St. Andrews. The 28-year-old Norwegian will look to end his 2026 major season on a positive note, having finished T18 at The Masters before missing the cut at both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.

Wins Travelers Championship Hovland defeated Scottie Scheffler on the first playoff hole to win the Travelers Championship on Monday.
Impact Hovland and Scheffler dueled pretty much the entire weekend as they were in the final group in the third and final rounds. It looked like Hovland was slipping in the final round, but then he birdied three straight holes to claim back a share of the lead. He had an opportunity on 18 to claim it in regulation but his putt just drifted off. Because of a rain delay in the final round, darkness forced both players to have to come out Monday morning for the playoff. Scheffler put the pressure on with a close approach on the first playoff hole. Hovland answered the call with another. The Norwegian had the chance to putt first this time and he jammed it in the side door. The pressure was then on Scheffler and he was not able to answer. This is Hovland's eighth career PGA Tour victory and first since the Valspar Championship in March of 2025. Hovland has struggled to find the results he expects throughout much of 2026, but everything came together for him at the Travelers. He'll hope to use this momentum to close the year strong like he did when he won the FedExCup in 2023.
