Move already: Golfer chases off alligator with a rake
Well, here’s something you don’t see every day.
James Driscoll’s second shot in the 18th hole at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans ended up near the bunker, where a local alligator just happened to be sunning itself on a nearby bank, the Times-Picayune reported.
Driscoll just figured he’d wait the reptile out. Only the alligator did not seem inclined to move from its tanning position.
Luckily, Driscoll’s fellow competitor John Peterson was not one to be deterred by trifling obstacles like angry reptiles with flesh-tearing teeth. The former LSU player took matters into his own hands, firmly spanking the alligator with the business end of a sand rake until it finally slunk into the pond and Driscoll could finish his shot.
And it was a good thing, too: Driscoll birdied the hole.
