His putting game held him back, as he lost 4.86 strokes on the green that ranked 76th out of the 82-man field. He also ranked T65 in birdies made, though he did finish T9 in scrambling and top-15 in both SG: Around-the-Green and SG: Approach. Thorbjornsen will pair up with Karl Vilips at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans next week.

Fades again in final round Thorbjornsen faded to a share of 14th place on Sunday with his two-over 72 in the final round of the Texas Children's Houston Open.

Impact Thorbjornsen came into the week in 56th in the OWGR and needing a strong showing in Houston in order to crack the Top 50 and secure his spot in The Masters. He was well on the way to doing that, but it was another Sunday that did not go as planned for the Stanford product. Thorbjornsen carded just three birdies on Sunday against three bogeys and a double-bogey. He lost 11 places on the leaderboard from where he began the day. Had Thorbjornsen held position, he likely would have been headed to Augusta. The same could have been said for his collapse on Sunday at THE PLAYERS where he was in the final group but finished in T22. Thorbjornsen is an incredible talent, but clearly there is still something he needs to figure out about closing tournaments. He will be in the field for the Valero Texas Open where he will need a victory to get into The Masters.

Thorbjornsen then missed a makable birdie on 18 that would have ended up putting him in a playoff with Chris Gotterup and Hideki Matsuyama. Thorbjornsen is going to be a star on the PGA Tour, but this was a good lesson for him on how to react in a high-pressure situation in an incredible atmosphere. He led the field for the week in SG: Off-the-Tee and was top 5 in GIR's and scrambling. Thorbjornsen's breakthrough is coming.

Impact Thorbjornsen began Sunday's action tied for second and two shots back, but he struggled to get much going on a day when scores were very low with just two birdies and one bogey to fall down the leaderboard. It's Thorbjornsen's second straight top-10 at the event and fifth top-10 of the year.
