STATS

Earns spot at The Open Championship Thorbjornsen posted a 12-under cumulative score at the Genesis Scottish Open to finish tied with Rory McIlroy for seventh.
Impact Thorbjornsen entered Sunday in the top-5 of the leaderboard following a bogey-free, five-under 65 on Saturday. He got off to a rough start in the final round with two bogeys in his first four holes, but he rallied to go four-under the rest of the way, which included three birdies from holes 14 to 17. The late surge on the back nine was critical for Thorbjornsen, as it pushed him back into the top-10 and earned him an exemption to The Open Championship next week, which will be the 24-year-old American's first career start at golf's oldest major. Thorbjornsen ranked second in SG: Around at The Renaissance Club, as well as T5 in both birdies and bogeys, T6 in GIR, 12th in both SG: Off-the-Tee and driving accuracy and 18th in driving distance.

MC by one stroke at JDC Thorbjornsen posted a two-under cumulative score at the John Deere Classic to miss the cut by one stroke.
Impact Thorbjornsen opened the tournament with a three-under 68 and birdied his first hole of the second round. However, he proceeded to go five-over across a seven-hole span Friday, including a double bogey on the par-3 16th. He carded birdies on three of his last four holes of the second round, but it wasn't enough for Thorbjornsen to qualify for the weekend. His putter let him down Friday, as he lost 1.92 strokes in that category. Thorbjornsen has missed the cut six times in 17 events this season and in three of his last five tournaments, including the PGA Championship in May. He's in the field for next week's Genesis Scottish Open, which will be his debut at the event and an opportunity to earn an exemption to The Open at Royal Birkdale.

Disappointing weekend at Charles Schwab Thorbjornsen finished solo 16th at the Charles Schwab Challenge with a seven-under cumulative score.
Impact Thorbjornsen was flirting with a first career victory on the PGA Tour after going nine-under through the first two rounds. However, as was the case at both THE PLAYERS Championship and the Houston Open, the 24-year-old American lost steam over the weekend at Colonial Country Club, ending the tournament with back-to-back, one-over 71 scores. Thorbjornsen minimized his mistakes, with his five bogeys being third-best at the event, though he carded only 12 birdies (T55). He also ranked second in the field in scrambling, 14th in SG: Around-the-Green and 18th in SG: Approach. Thorbjornsen is listed as an alternate for the Memorial Tournament next week, and if he doesn't get a spot in the field, then his next appearance could take place north of the border at the RBC Canadian Open in two weeks time.

Second straight missed cut Thorbjornsen recorded a 36-hole score of five-under-par to miss the cut at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson last week by one shot.
Impact Thorbjornsen posted a bogey-free 64 on Thursday to begin his week at TPC Craig Ranch, but the momentum was short-lived as he ultimately lost 3.6 strokes with his irons and another 2.3 strokes on the greens during Friday's second round in McKinney. He's now missed back-to-back cuts on the heels of a T53 at the Cadillac Championship, falling to 70th in the FedExCup standings ahead of the upcoming Charles Schwab Challenge.

Strong final round at Harbour Town Thorbjornsen posted a bogey-free, six-under 65 score during the final round of the RBC Heritage to finish tied for 33rd.
Impact It was a promising finish to the tournament for Thorbjornsen, especially after his three-over 74 round Saturday. His putting game held him back, as he lost 4.86 strokes on the green that ranked 76th out of the 82-man field. He also ranked T65 in birdies made, though he did finish T9 in scrambling and top-15 in both SG: Around-the-Green and SG: Approach. Thorbjornsen will pair up with Karl Vilips at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans next week.

Fades again in final round Thorbjornsen faded to a share of 14th place on Sunday with his two-over 72 in the final round of the Texas Children's Houston Open.
Impact Thorbjornsen came into the week in 56th in the OWGR and needing a strong showing in Houston in order to crack the Top 50 and secure his spot in The Masters. He was well on the way to doing that, but it was another Sunday that did not go as planned for the Stanford product. Thorbjornsen carded just three birdies on Sunday against three bogeys and a double-bogey. He lost 11 places on the leaderboard from where he began the day. Had Thorbjornsen held position, he likely would have been headed to Augusta. The same could have been said for his collapse on Sunday at THE PLAYERS where he was in the final group but finished in T22. Thorbjornsen is an incredible talent, but clearly there is still something he needs to figure out about closing tournaments. He will be in the field for the Valero Texas Open where he will need a victory to get into The Masters.

Struggles with Sunday 77 Thorbjornsen recorded a five-over 77 in the final round of THE PLAYERS Championship to finish tied for 22nd place.
Impact Playing in the final pairing alongside Ludvig Aberg on Sunday, Thorbjornsen quickly fell out of contention after carding a quadruple-bogey eight on the par-4 fourth hole. Things didn't get better on the back-nine, where a pair of bogeys and a double bogey dropped him outside the top-20. On the bright side, Thorbjornsen gained shots in every strokes gained category for the week and his 20 birdies ranked tied for fifth. It's the 24-year-old's third top-25 across his last six events.
