Taking medical leave from PGA Tour
Penge, who withdrew from THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson this week, will be taking a break from PGA Tour competition to focus on his health, Golfweek's Adam Schupak reports.
Impact
In addition to welcoming his second child in late February, Penge has dealt with several health issues throughout the first few months of his rookie season on the PGA Tour, ranging from viral infections to vertigo symptoms. A recent MRI on his brain and neck came back clean, but Penge has elected to spend additional time and effort on a return to full strength.

Not playing Byron Nelson next week
Penge has withdrawn from THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson next week, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.
Impact
Penge missed the cut at the PGA Championship. It's not clear why he elected to withdraw, but the Englishman has been dealing with some recurring issues related to a viral infection he had back in November. Hopefully all is well for Penge and he can get back on the golf course soon.

Misses cut after dreadful back nine
Penge posted a 12-over cumulative score at the PGA Championship to miss the cut by eight strokes.
Impact
Penge opened the tournament with a five-over 75 in the first round, but he was on track to make the four-over cut line after going one-under on the front nine of the second round. However, the Englishman opened the back nine with back-to-back bogeys before carding double bogeys on the 14th, 15th and 18th holes, ending his day with a seven-over 77 score. Most of Penge's struggles came on the green, as he lost 4.67 strokes with his putter. It was his fifth missed cut of the season (in 12 tournaments) and first since the Houston Open in March. Penge is not listed in the field for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson next week.

Pulls out of field in Myrtle Beach
Penge has withdrawn from this week's Myrtle Beach Classic, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.
Impact
No reason was given for the withdraw. He last played at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and finished T30. Penge is in the field for next week's PGA Championship, so hopefully he is all good for that. Taylor Montgomery will get his spot in the field in Myrtle Beach.

Paces Valero in driving distance
Penge carded a one-over 73 on Sunday at the Valero Texas Open to finish nine-under and tied for 21st.
Impact
Penge's week at TPC San Antonio was highlighted by a six-under 66 in Round 3 when he racked up eight birdies while gaining 1.88 strokes off the tee, and he finished the event ranked first among the field in both driving distance and ball speed. Penge's 4.37 strokes gained on approach marked a career high as well. The 27-year-old Englishman now heads to Augusta National for his Masters Tournament debut.

MC in Houston
Penge recorded a 36-hole score of one-under-par to miss the cut at last week's Texas Children's Houston Open by one shot.
Impact
Penge doubled two of his final nine holes at Memorial Park on Friday, ultimately missing the cut in Houston on the heels of a T4 result at the Valspar Championship. The Englishman lost 2.5 strokes on approach throughout his two rounds at the TCHO, though he's still gained over a full stroke off the tee in all seven of his PGA Tour starts this season. He'll be in attendance again this week at TPC San Antonio for his Valero Texas Open debut.

Share of fourth at Valspar
Penge posted an even-par 71 in the final round of the Valspar Championship to finish tied with Xander Schauffele and Sungjae Im for fourth.
Impact
Penge put himself in position for a Sunday push after going four under on the back nine of the third round. It ended up being a roller coaster final round for the Englishman, who alternated between birdies for bogeys over the first seven holes, but he snuck into the top-5 after his birdie on the 18t, resulting in his best PGA Tour finish since the Genesis Scottish Open in July of 2025 (T2). Penge led the field in driving distance and birdies made while ranking third in SG: Off-the-Tee, T4 in GIR, 13th in SG: Putting and T15 in driving accuracy. He has made the cut in three of his last four Tour tournaments after failing to make the weekend at both the Farmers Insurance Open and WM Phoenix Open. Penge is in the field for next week's Texas Children's Houston Open, which will be his first appearance at the event.

Fades on weekend
Penge settled for a share of 16th place after shooting a one-under 70 in the final round of The Genesis Invitational.
Impact
Penge stormed into the weekend after a hot 66-64 start. It was his first time in contention in a PGA Tour event and he was a little shaky the final two rounds. The putter which was so strong in the first two rounds, completely fell off on Saturday and Sunday. Those 4-8 footers always tend to get a little tougher when more eyeballs are on you, especially on poa annua greens in the afternoon. Penge will be able to learn from this and be better the next time he gets a sniff of the lead. First things first, however, Penge and his wife are expecting a child this week. He is not in the field for the Cognizant Classic, but should be back for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
