Jumps into top-20 at Royal Birkdale Penge posted a two-under 68 in the final round of The Open Championship to finish tied for 18th.

Impact Penge opened the tournament with a two-over 72 before going five-under the rest of the way, and he finished strongly with a three-under back nine in the final round. Although he connected on just 42.9 percent of fairways -- ranked 66th out of 78 -- he also finished 16th in SG: Off-the-Tee, 20th in SG: Tee-to-Green and 22nd in SG: Approach. It was Penge's best finish across three major starts and his best outing at a PGA Tour event since his T4 at the Valspar Championship. He's not listed in the field for the 3M Open next week.

MC at Genesis Scottish Open Penge missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open by one stroke following a one-under 69 in the second round.

Impact Penge needed to gain two strokes to make the cut after going even-par in the opening round. He carded four birdies in the second round, but that work was mitigated by a bogey and a double bogey on the par-4 13th, and he was unable to convert on his 18-foot birdie put on the 18th hole. He gained strokes off the tee, around the green and with his putter, but Penge lost 3.42 strokes in his approach play while connecting on 22 of 36 greens in regulation. He's finished outside the top-20 in eight of his last nine tournaments (four MC's), with his T4 at the Valspar Championship in March being the exception. Penge will tee off next week at The Open Championship, where he's failed to make the cut in each of his three prior appearances at golf's oldest major.

Impact Penge has been battling through an illness since late 2025, which caused him to miss the last six weeks of tournaments (including the U.S. Open). The Englishman was cleared to return to action and elected to tee off in Europe as he prepares for The Open Championship. Penge saw his score steadily decline over the course of the tournament in Munich, ending with an even-par 72 on Sunday that included three birdies, one bogey and a double bogey. He'll tee off next week at the Genesis Scottish Open, where he finished T2 in his debut at the event last year.

Impact Penge has been battling an illness for around eight months that he and several specialists have been trying to find a solution for. He indicated that after numerous tests that he feels like he is getting close to a return. Penge has not played since the PGA Championship and prior to that did not play since the Zurich Classic. It's tough enough for a rookie on the PGA Tour, but also having to deal with some type of illness makes it that much tougher. Penge's best showing this year was a T4 at the Valspar Championship.

Penge's 4.37 strokes gained on approach marked a career high as well. The 27-year-old Englishman now heads to Augusta National for his Masters Tournament debut.
