Battles flu at Torrey Pines Aberg struggled to a seven-over 79 in the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open to drop into a tie for 42nd place.

Impact Aberg was the pre-tournament favorite and wasted little time showing that with a nine-under 63 on the North Course in round one. It was a real struggle after that, however, as he carded rounds of 75-74-79 to close the week. Aberg was also battling some flu-like symptoms in the final two rounds, which really affected appeared to affect his stamina and focus. Impact Aberg got off to a slow start to the week shooting rounds of 69-70, but found his rhythm on the weekend going 65-64. The Swede's final round included a pair of eagles on the front-nine and then four consecutive birdies on the back. Aberg was the jack of all trades this week, ranking between 14-20 in all strokes gained categories. The knee surgery last fall seems to be fully behind him and Aberg will look to close in on PGA Tour win No. 2 in his next start. He is not in the field for the Sony Open in Hawaii next week.

Impact Aberg was the heavy favorite this week even after having not played since August due to surgery on his knee to repair a torn meniscus. It certainly wasn't the outing that Aberg was hoping for in his title defense of his maiden PGA Tour victory, but a strong showing on Sunday helped him to crack the top-20. Aberg said during the week that he feels great and hopefully won't have any setbacks going into 2025. The Swede will close out the year at the Hero World Challenge in a couple weeks.
