Fails to qualify for BMW Championship Mitchell posted a one-under cumulative score at the FedEx St. Jude Championship to finish in a five-way tie for 34th.

Impact Mitchell entered the week 49th in the FedExCup Standings, barely within the top-50 cutoff for the BMW Championship and exemption into all Signature Events in 2027. He entered the weekend at five-under following a four-under 66 second round, but he proceeded to post back-to-back, two-over 72 rounds over the weekend. His final round was particularly rough, as he found the water on the 18th hole that led to a bogey. Mitchell ended up dropping down to 51st, meaning his FedExCup playoffs are done. The next PGA Tour event he can play in is Sept. 17 at the Biltmore Championship Asheville.

Eighth in SG: OTT at Sedgefield Mitchell fired a four-under 66 on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship to finish seven-under and tied for 38th.

Impact Mitchell's final round at Sedgefield Country Club was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole where his approach shot from 203 yards out settled within eight feet of the cup, and he ultimately ranked second among the field in SG: Off-the-Tee on Sunday. For the tournament, he finished 11th in SG: Tee-to-Green en route to 21 total par-breakers, but he lost 3.85 strokes putting while converting just eight of 17 scrambling opportunities. At 49th in the FedExCup standings, Mitchell will peg it again this week at TPC Southwind with a legitimate chance to advance to the BMW Championship.

Impact Mitchell was sitting right at the one-over cut line heading into the final stretch of the second round, but he ended his day bogey-birdie-bogey, with the drop shot ultimately knocking the American out of contention for the Claret Jug. Mitchell was above average in GIR and SG: Apporach and Off-the-Tee despite connecting on only 39.3 percent of fairways, but he also lost 1.25 strokes around the green. Impact It looked like Mitchell's championship was going to be done early on Thursday after he turned in six-over 41. He put that behind him and shot six-under 29 on his back-nine to put himself right back in contention. That was certainly an interesting way to card the first of those four straight 70s. The big key for Mitchell at Shinnecock was the putter as he gained more strokes on the greens than anyone else in the field. It has been a club he has struggled with through most of his career, but when it is working he is going to find himself in contention like he was this week given how well we know he hits the ball. The 34-year-old has been a solid PGA Tour player for some time now, but this T4 was easily his best-ever showing in a major. His previous best was a T20 back at the 2023 U.S. Open. This finish means that Mitchell is locked into both the 2027 Masters and U.S. Open. He also surges to 68th in the OWGR. Mitchell is likely to get into the Travelers Championship next week.
