Gains 3.38 strokes putting at BMW Spaun closed with a three-over 73 on Sunday at the BMW Championship to finish five-under and tied for 22nd.

Impact Spaun was five-over through 10 holes during Sunday's final round at Bellerive, though he rebounded with back-to-back birdies on hole Nos. 11 and 12 before adding another late tweeter on the par-5 17th. However, he ended the tournament ranked just 41st of 50 in SG: Ballstriking, hitting only 43 of 72 total GIR in the process. On a more positive note, Spaun finished T2 among the field in putts per GIR and sixth in total feet of putts made en route to 20 total par-breakers. He'll be in attendance again this week at East Lake for his second career TOUR Championship appearance.

Impact Spaun ranked fourth among the field in both SG: Off-the-Tee and SG: Around-the-Green at TPC Southwind, but he lost 4.06 strokes off the tee and another 3.13 strokes with the flat stick in Memphis. Despite the lousy putting performance, he still managed to convert 23 of 32 scrambling opportunities. Spaun remains 21st in the FedExCup standings ahead of the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club, where he tied for 35th during the 2018 PGA Championship.

Impact Spaun hit just two of 13 fairways in regulation during Sunday's final round at The Renaissance Club, though he finished the event ranked T16 among the field in GIR percentage while gaining 2.39 strokes on approach en route to 17 total birdies. However, he converted only seven of 18 scrambling opportunities, making just 54' 3" feet of putts per round in the process. Spaun will make his second career Open Championship appearance this week at Royal Birkdale.

It's been an interesting year for Spaun, who has missed the cut in all three majors this season. However, he's also finished in the top-25 in seven of his last 10 tournaments, with four top-10s that includes a victory at the Valero Texas Open in early April. Spaun is not teeing off at the John Deere Classic next week but is in the field for the Genesis Scottish Open in two weeks, where he missed the cut last year.
