Impact Thompson shot five-under or better in two of his first three rounds at Sedgefield Country Club and entered Sunday sixth in the leaderboard. However, his final round was ruined by consecutive bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes, which moved him from 81st to 77th in the FedExCup Standings, just outside the top-70 to qualify for the playoffs. Thompson's 12.46 strokes gained in approach play was best in the field, and he also finished T1 in GIR, though his 4.55 strokes lost on the green was ranked 77th out of the 81 players who made the cut. Since he's not in the playoffs, the next chance that Thompson can tee off on the PGA Tour is at the Biltmore Championship Asheville that starts Sept. 17.

Impact Thompson shot two-under par in all four of his rounds at Detroit Golf Club, with Sunday's score being his best of the tournament. He ranked 10th in both birdies and SG: Putting, as well as 13th in SG: Off-the-Tee and 24th in SG: Approach, though he also ranked 64th in both driving distance and SG: Around, losing 1.93 strokes in his short game. Thompson has back-to-back top-10 finishes and four for the year, which has him 81st in the FedExCup Standings. His last chance to crack the top-70 to qualify for the postseaon comes next week at the Wyndham Championship, where he finished T12 in 2024 and T11 last year.

Impact Thompson surged up the leaderboard Saturday with an eight-under 63 score, his best of the tournament, and he stayed in the top-10 after carding three birdies over his last four holes of the final round. It was his third top-10 finish of the season and his best performance since his solo fourth at the Puerto Rico Open. Thompson's success at TPC Twin Cities mostly came off the tee; he ranked third in SG: Off-the-Tee, as well as ninth in driving distance and T24 in driving accuracy. He also ranked sixth in SG: Approach and GIR and T14 in birdies. Thompson will tee off next week at the Rocket Classic, where he's made the cut in each of his four appearances at Detroit Golf Club, including T2 in 2024.

He ultimately finished his week in the Quad Cities ranked fourth among the field in SG: Ballstriking en route to 21 total par-breakers, though he converted just 11 of 19 scrambling opportunities while also losing 1.25 strokes with the putter. After dropping one spot to 94th in the FedExCup standings, Thompson will be in attendance again this week for the ISCO Championship.

Impact Thompson leaned on a hot putter throughout the week at TPC Toronto, ultimately ranking third among the field in total feet of putts made and eighth in putts per GIR en route to 19 total birdies across 72 holes. However, he finished just 70th of 74 in SG: Tee-to-Green, and he's now lost over a full stroke with his ball striking in three consecutive starts dating back to a missed cut at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Thompson will be in attendance again this week for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.

Impact Thompson made only one bogey in 36 holes to claim medalist honors by two strokes. Thompson has had a very strong ball striking year on the PGA Tour, but has really struggled to get anything going with the putter. He does have four top-15 finishes in 2026. Thompson will make his fifth career U.S. Open start next week. He finished T9 back in 2024. Thompson is also in the field for this week's RBC Canadian Open where he will be hoping to move up from 90th in the FedExCup standings.

However, Thompson also lost 2.9 strokes around the green, and he hit just 23 of 52 total fairways in regulation. He'll be in attendance again this week for the Texas Children's Houston Open where he's placed T27-T21-T43 in three career trips to Memorial Park.

Impact Thompson started out slowly with an even-par 72 in the first round but managed to make the two-under cut line after a three-under 69 on Friday. He surged up the leaderboard with a seven-under 65 in the third round and did enough Sunday to capture his first top-5 finish of the 2026 Tour season (and first since the Shriners Children's Open in October of 2024). Thompson ended the event as the second-best scrambler while ranking T9 in GIR and T15 in driving accuracy. He'll be in the field next week for THE PLAYERS Championship, where he made the cut in two of three prior outings, including a T10 finish in 2025.
