Impact Smalley gets into the field after Sahith Theegala was forced to withdraw with a neck injury. Vince Whaley is now the next alternate should anyone else withdraw before play on Thursday. Smalley is coming off a T5 finish at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

Impact Smalley was playing in the closing threesome Sunday but struggled to get much going with three bogeys in the first six holes, and he played the closing two holes in three-over to fall out of the top-10. On a positive note, he led the field for the week in SG: Around the green. The 28-year-old has had a consistent start to the year with six top-25s across seven starts.

Struggles in final round Smalley recorded a one-over 72 in the final round of the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld to finish tied for 10th place.

Impact Smalley began the day in solo fourth place but had an inconsistent round that was highlighted by three front-nine birdies but also consisted of three bogeys and a double bogey. He was led by his driving play this week as he led the field in SG: Off-the-tee. It's only Smalley's third top-10 finish since last April, and he's now gained strokes off the tee in eight consecutive tournaments.

Impact Smalley did not play in this past week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after a missed cut in his previous outing at the Farmers Insurance Open, but he'll tee it up Thursday at TPC Scottsdale for his second career WMPO appearance, having missed the cut here back in 2020.

Impact Smalley cannot bounce back immediately from the Farmers Insurance Open, when he scored +5 in two rounds. Earlier in January, the American's previous PGA tournaments saw him finish with scores of -18 and -11 in The American Express and Sony Open respectively.

Surges with Sunday 65 Smalley fired a seven-under 65 in the final round of The American Express to finish in 11th place.

Impact Smalley got hot on the back-nine in the closing round, posting four birdies and an eagle en route to the low round of the day. He ranked 21st or better in every strokes gained category across two rounds at the Stadium Course, most notably finishing sixth around the green. Smalley has now started the year with back-to-back top-20 results.

Impact Smalley, who has made the cut in each of his last five events, shot a five-under 66 on Saturday that catapulted him into a tie for eighth place. Unfortunately for the American golfer, he struggled to close Sunday, tallying double bogeys on holes 15 and 18 to finish T29. Despite his mishaps in the final round, Smalley still showcased his strengths at the Butterfield Bermuda Classic, finishing as the third-longest average driver (306.1 yards) and tying for the fourth-most birdies with 22.

Ties for 39th in Mexico Smalley carded a two-under 70 on Sunday at the World Wide Technology Championship to finish 11-under and tied for 39th.

Impact Smalley rebounded from an opening 73 by firing a seven-under 65 on Friday in which he hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation on the way to eight birdies. He finished the event ranked T8 among the field in GIR percentage and T15 in driving accuracy, but Smalley converted just four of 12 scrambling opportunities. At 120th in the FedExCup Fall standings, he'll be in attendance again this week for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship where he's placed T30-T11-T12 the past three years.

Notches T25 at BDC Smalley closed with a two-under 69 on Sunday at the Black Desert Championship to finish 13-under and tied for 25th.

Impact Smalley broke 70 in all four of his rounds at the Black Desert Resort just one week after his fifth-place effort at the Sanderson Farms Championship, though he actually dropped one spot to No. 117 in the FedExCup Fall standings. Nonetheless, he gained a collective 5.3 strokes with his ball striking in Utah, and he ranked T12 among the field in GIR percentage on the way to 17 total birdies and an eagle. Smalley now heads to TPC Summerlin for the Shriners Children's Open where he's 2-for-2 in cuts made.

Impact Smalley started the day outside of the top-20 but surged up the leaderboard with the low round of the day in which he went bogey-free with a pair of eagles and five birdies. He was fueled by his ball-striking this week, ranking in the top-10 in SG: Off-the tee, approach and driving distance.
