Commits to Tarleton State Hines has committed to Tarleton State for the 2025 season, according to Mike Farrell of MikeFarrellSports.com.
Impact Hines spent the first three seasons of his college career at Hawaii, and while he had an impressive freshman year, he only racked up 467 yards and three scores across his last two campaigns with the program. He figures to have a bigger role in a smaller school such as Tarleton State.
JANUARY 13 • ROTOWIRE
Leaving Hawaii Hines has entered into the NCAA transfer portal, per his Twitter account.
Impact Hines will look for options to contribute elsewhere this offseason after spending three seasons with the Rainbow Warriors. The 5-foot-7 redshirt sophomore burst onto the scene with 716 total yards and two touchdowns during his true freshman season, but he managed just 467 yards and three scores across his last two seasons with Hawaii.
DECEMBER 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to backfield Hines accrued 12 rushes for 66 yards and hauled in 3 of 4 targets for 21 yards during Saturday's 21-20 win over Fresno State.
Impact After opening the year as a receiver, Hines has seen decent volume since returning to the backfield -- he's rushed for 92 yards on 19 carries in his last two games. Overall, the sophomore's totaled 152 rushing yards on 28 attempts this season while adding another 177 yards and three touchdowns on 22 receptions.
NOVEMBER 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Touchdowns in three straight Hines totaled five receptions (on six targets) for 42 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's 42-10 defeat to Washington State.
Impact Hines now has touchdowns in three straight contests -- he's totaled nine receptions for 102 yards in that span after making just eight grabs for 43 yards in his first four games this season.
OCTOBER 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Snags first touchdown Hines caught all three of his targets for 33 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's 27-24 loss to San Diego State.
Impact Hines tied the game 10-10 late in the second quarter with a 23-yard touchdown grab, his first of the year. The 5-foot-7 Hines set a season high with 33 receiving yards, though he's brought in three or more receptions in three of his last four contests. Hines, who shifted from running back to receiver in the offseason, now has 11 catches for 76 yards on the campaign. While Hawaii's receiver room is still fairly open behind Pofele Ashlock, the sophomore Hines still appears to be buried on the depth chart.
OCTOBER 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Healthy as camp begins Hines stood out in Hawaii's first scrimmage as both a receiver and kick returner, the Honolulu StarAdvertiser reports. He had a 97-yard kickoff return in the scrimmage.
Impact Hines played just four games last season due to an ankle injury, but looks like he's back to full speed. He's moving to wide receiver after playing running back the past two seasons.
AUGUST 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Practicing again Hines (ankle) was recently filmed practicing, Mitch Riberal of KHON2 News reports.
Impact For Hawaii's fall camp, Hines will look to acclimate to his new position of wide receiver. It is not a position he is completely inexperienced at, considering the sophomore has 16 career receptions for 108 yards. However, Hines has experience excelling as a running back, which will make his move to wide receiver potentially tougher to swallow with expectations high.
JULY 31, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Switching to WR Hines is changing his position to wide receiver, Joe Londergan of Sports Illustrated reports.
Impact Hines, who spent the last two seasons playing running back, is making the switch to wide receiver ahead of his third season with Hawaii. In his freshman season he rushed 83 times for 634 yards and two touchdowns, adding nine catches for 82 yards through the air. Head coach Timmy Chang noted that part of the reason for the change is the desire to get him into open space, saying "His speed as well is just really dynamic...I'm excited to watch him play."
JULY 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
DNP vs. Colorado State Hines (ankle) did not play during Hawaii's game Saturday against Colorado State.
Impact Hines was unable to recover in time before Hawaii's 2023 season ended. He logged 27 carries for 93 yards (3.4 averaged per carry) across his four games. Despite his 2023 being a significant downgrade compared to 2022, Hines can redshirt this year and still maintain three seasons of collegiate eligibility.
NOVEMBER 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

Impact Hines has one more opportunity to play again in 2023, when the Hawaii team hosts Colorado State on Nov. 25. The running back has not played since Week 5 though, so he is not expected to be going all out if healthy.

NOVEMBER 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

Rushes for 68 yards Hines ran for 68 yards on eight carries Saturday as Hawaii fell to San Diego State 16-14.
Impact Hines had the second-most yards Saturday behind Dedrick Parson's 70, but the two running backs were not strong enough to help secure the win for Hawaii. As a true freshman, Hines is having a solid season thus far, rushing for 188 yards and one touchdown through six matchups.
OCTOBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
