Impact Powell had not appeared in the two prior games while nursing a shoulder injury. The quarterback picked up right where he left off, totaling over 250 passing yards in his third game of the season.

Solid in loss Powell completed 18 of 25 passes for 211 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Saturday's 21-13 loss to Liberty.

Impact The day started with a touchdown drive and ended with a touchdown drive for Powell, but the middle parts weren't as successful. Five of Troy's nine possessions ended in punts, and Powell threw a costly pick after the Troy defense got a stop to open the second half. Still, completing 72 percent of your passes isn't a bad thing. The Trojans will look to turn it around against Southern Miss next week, a team that Sun Belt brethren South Alabama beat 31-7 in Week 1.

Impact Powell was in a battle with Gunnar Watson in camp to land the job but ultimately bested him to land the job after transferring in from Missouri last December. He has completed less than 50 percent of his passes in his two stints under center with Missouri but could find better success at a smaller school with a lower level of opposition.
